Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I have just re-started my Canon PIXMA MP610 after it has been in storage for 2 months. It is around 1yr old. It seemed to work OK. When i went to print the 1st page, the paper jammed because of some matter inside the paper shute (a dead cockroach!). I have removed the matter, but the printer now comes up with 'Print head out of alignment' or 'Print head is not compatible and needs replacing' (error U051 and u052). I have tried removing and re-installing the printhead but the error message remains. Is my only option to buy a new printhead? It seemed to be working until the paper jammed from the blockage. Thanks

I have been getting the error message U051 relplace the print head. The printer is used pretty regularly and the temperature climate has not changed severly. I have tried new ink cartrages and I have taken out the print head and examined it and nothing seems to help. I figure I will have to buy a new print head. That sucks! I hope this is the answer to my problems!

Yes vintos after long storage problems with the printer heads may arrise.

Thermal changes from being in storage can cause the printer heads to dry up and fail.

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL or other solvents in an attempt to clear the printer heads.

1. Attempt to change ink cartridges , this may clear the issue.

If that fails , you may be forced to change printer heads at that point.

I would suggest removing the printhead, make sure there are no more dead roach's under the printhead, also make sure all lights on the ink tanks are lite up, the first error code you mentioned has to do with the ink tanks, the second one has to do with the printhead. I would suggest un-installing the printhead, then reinstalling it doing the alignment, and that should clear the error code.

You've eliminated all other options, so obviously your printer is defective.

Call canon if it is under warranty, otherwise you will have to replace it.

Canon PIXMA 530 grinds away

I had a persistant grinding noise about 30 seconds after the printer finished printing. It's been going on about 2 months. I did one thing which seemed to work. So try opening the cover on the back of the machine by lifting upward on the gray lever in the middle of the back of the machine. Leave this cover open during and after printing. The grinding noise went away.
