Make sure you have microsoft word installed i you computer.
But if you want to scan a document you can also scan it to HP Document Viewer.

First open solution center/HP Director and try to scan from document> then in the optin which says where do you want to send the scanned image> click on the drop down and check to see yu have the option of word> if yes select the option of word and try to scan.

If not Open HP Solution center/HP Director and go to settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Go to> Destination List> And click on Restore defaults and check to see if you have the option of word in the availabe list and front panel destination list> then click on apply ad ok and close all the windows and then try and check to see if you get the option of scan to word.

When I try to scan a document on my HP Officejet 4500, a box appears stating the LCD list needs upgraded. What does that mean, how do I do that and why hasn't this happened before when I scanned?

This means the printer has lost the front panel menu items, likely due to some Microsoft update or firewall update in the computer.

Launch the HP solution center on the computer. Click the SETTINGS button. Hover over or click the SCAN SETTINGS button, and choose SCAN TO SETUP. Add or remove items depending on the options you wish to be available at the time of scan, and click UPDATE DEVICE.
Your scan options should now be available from the front panel of the device.
If this did not work, try again in 30 minutes.

If this still didn't work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the software.

NOTE: these instructions assume you are using the CUE13 (black interface) software.
If you are not, uninstall the software and drivers for the printer that you are using, and go to the HP website, and get the latest drivers and CUE software.

IseMY Hp all in one 4355 printer is unable to scan

Hi,

The HP Officejet 4355 can print, scan, copy and fax.

You need to install the printer software to print and scan. Copy and faxing does not required software installation.

Rizwan

You need to have the HP scan software running on your computer before you press scan, the scan options are in the scanning software and the scanner needs to know where to send the image, how to scan, and what type of image you're scanning.
