To use a wireless data connection, you need to set up that connection on your TomTom device. The details that you enter during setup are your wireless data connection settings. This includes information about which country you are in and which mobile phone network provider you use.
If you choose to set up your wireless data connection manually, you have to enter more technical information related to your wireless data connection

This a device limitation base from what you have stated. You can't force a device to work as you wanted to since it doesn't have any settings that you are looking for. Even the provider and manufacturer told you that the k850i hasn't been tested so there is no settings available to do a manual connection. If they can't establish wireless data connection to each other, try putting a "stepping stone" for both of them like a wireless access point or wireless router. Let them connect first to the wireless AP or wireless router and not directly to each other. From there maybe they can easily establish wireless data connection. You can give it a try since almost all of the experts had given you all possible solutions. Good luck!

Sir,

There is no information in regards with the compatibility between Sony Ericsson
products and third-party products such as the TomTom Go 700. If you would like,
we recommend contacting TomTom to inquire if they are able to provide further
information on the compatibility between the TomTom Go 700 and the K850I.

We have provided the following Bluetooth specifications for the W800i to help
determine if the TomTom Go 700 Bluetooth specifications are similar. The W800i
is manufactured to meet Bluetooth Specification 2.0.

The following are the Bluetooth services supported:
- Dial-up Networking Profile
- Generic Access Profile
- Generic Object Exchange Profile Headset Profile
- Object Push Profile
- Serial Port Profile
- Synchronization Profile
- Basic Imaging Profile
- Handsfree Profile
- Headset Profile
- File Transfer Profile
- Human Interface Device (HID) Profile

If we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to call one
of our representatives at 1-866-SONY-ERICSSON(1-866-766-9374).

thanks
good luck

QuestionUsing your mobile phone with your TomTom AnswerTo use some TomTom PLUS services, you need a wireless Internet connection via GPRS, EDGE or UMTS. Your device either needs to be able to do this itself or it needs to be able to connect via Bluetooth to a device that can do it.
And your phone is not on TomTom's list - yes Bluetooth connection is successful but the Wireless Data Connection is another thing that both device must agree on. TomTom devices must initiate the compatibility not the other way around.

Your sure your phone isn't the Sony Ericsson W850i? I don't even see your phone on the compatibility list at all. If the K and W are the same thing then it should be compatible with the tom tom. Have you contacted tom tom or sony about your problem?

There is a known issue with the Tom tom 500 and 910 when creating the wireless data connection and connecting certain phones to the GPS. I hate to tell you this, but your phone is not compatible with the TOM TOM GO 500 and the Plus Services. Check the list and you will see your phone is not listed and this is a strict list. Sorry.

Just because a phone is 6 months old does not mean it was not developped more than a year agao and just now brought to market. This is the norm for todays products. Manufacturers are constantly holding back on newer technolgies, until the old ones are expired. You can wish for this to work, but it will not and you will continue to be dissappointed. Why do'nt you contact your phone companies corporate office ane explained to them this is what you bought this [hone for and were reassured by their sales poeple it would do the job, and it won't and you need to upgrade to a different model. They should do it as a courtesy for you. They get more usage from you as a data customer anyway.

I am sorry to see you will not take "cannot be done" as an answer. If you get a solution to this, I will be shocked. I am sure this is frustrating to you, but you are asking for something that cannot be done. I am sure you have contacted TOM TOM at this point and they could not help you either, so what makes you think we can help you. Again, the answer is it cannot be done, but you trying, like the little engine that could.

You cannot make a wireless data connection between teh TOM TOM and your phone unless your phone and the TOMTOM both support it. If both your phone and TOMTOM can connect to wireless networks then they possibly can work.

1. Setup an ADHOC network on the phone and teh Tomtom set them both to have an IP address on the same range.
192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101 respectively.
2. Set them both to have the same wireless name exact same name for it to work.

There are different kinds of wireless data connection for mobile phones like gprs, umts and wifi to connect mobile phones to internet...........but if you want to use tom tom services you need to have a wireless data connection like gprs, wifi, etc as i said above......if you are connecting and using this.....i suggest you to close the antivirus or firewall of the antivirus...as some firewall of antirus wont allow such connections......i am a software engineer....and i have experience in these areas....thats why suggesting this idea....try this....it will work 100%...remember that dialup connections wont work....as it is very slow....try it with a broadband connection....as it is very much faster than dial up connection.....

  1. Choose 'Mobile phone' wireless data connection - mobilephone.gif to get started.
  2. Select ‘Connect to your phoneconnecttophone.gif and TomTom GO will search for your mobile phone.
  3. Pick your phone from the list displayed.
  4. When prompted to connect, enter a pass code (password) of ‘0000’ on the phone.
  5. You will then be asked to set up a wireless Internet connection. Do this if you want to use TomTom PLUS services.
  6. Finally, you can copy your phone book to the TomTom GO. You cannot use hands-free features while this is happening.
  7. To allow automatic connection from now on, make the TomTom GO a ‘trusted’ device on your phone. See your phone manual for details.

    Please reset the device
To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

    1. Check that the battery is charged properly.

Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.

    2. Remove the SD card

If your device uses an SD card, remove it.

    3. Reset your device.

Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to
push the reset button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the reset button.

    4. Turn your device on.

Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.

By pairing your handset, you can also keep your phone invisible and still communicate with other Bluetooth devices.
To pair your handset with another Bluetooth device, such as a computer, mobile phone or headset, you’ll need to ensure that Bluetooth is switched on visible on both devices. Consult the other Bluetooth device’s manual for information on how to prepare it for pairing.
Enter the main menu by pressing the centre button and highlight the Settings icon and press Select (see figure 1).

Scroll right to the Connectivity tab and press Select to enter the Bluetooth menu (see figure 2).

Scroll down to My Devices and press Select, Now press Add, and OK to start searching for other Bluetooth devices (see figure 3).

The search shouldn’t take more than a minute and you should quickly see your other Bluetooth device named in the list. To begin pairing, highlight the device’s name and press Select (see figure 4).
You will be prompted to enter a four-digit code of your choice to pair the device. This is a rudimentary security tool and it prevents another device from accepting pairing if it doesn’t have the same code (see figure 5).

When pairing with a computer, you’ll be prompted to enter the same code as you entered on the handset to complete the pairing process.
If you’re pairing your handset with a headset, which obviously doesn’t have a keypad to enter a code in with, consult with the manual to find out which code is needed to complete pairing.
If in doubt, try ‘0000’ or ‘1234’ as these are the standard codes used by the majority of Bluetooth device manufacturers.
Once the code has been confirmed, pairing will complete and from now on the device’s name will always appear in the My devices section of the Bluetooth menu.

feel free for further queries
thanks.

A wireless data connection is used by mobile phones and other similar devices to connect to the internet. In order to use some TomTom PLUS services, for example TomTom Traffic, you need to have a wireless data connection. There are several different kinds of wireless data connection for mobile phones, for example GPRS, UMTS and WiFi.
Please note that CSD and dial-up connections cannot be used with TomTom PLUS services
