Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Hotpoint built in dishwasher model no BF72 switches on for a couple of minutes then bleeps and showes error E8, can you tell me what the problem is. Many thanks Phil

This seems to be the "anti flood" device at the base of the washer is triggered due to water at the base of the washer. This safety device consists of a polystireene float and a micro switch that detects water leaks/spills and automatically puts the washer in pump out mode. You need to find the leak (hose or clamp)dry the base and rectifythe leak it before the washer works.

I don't have a solution, but the exact same problem is happening with my dishwasher. Nothing is getting cleaned properly.

Did you manage to get the problem fixed?

Dose not finnish washing and starts bleeping and start light keep flahing. water is hot by have not dryed

Neighbor had a similar problem with a GE dishwasher except it wouldn't start and kept beeping when door was closed. So the door was left closed, and while it was beeping, turned off the circuit breaker that fed power to it. Waited about 30 seconds, turned circuit breaker back on, bleeping had stopped, dishwasher was reset. Normal and heated dry were already selected, (since I had tried pressing those two before all this to force a reset), then pressed start and it ran again. Hope this might help you.

    Dishwasher not empytying

call a pro before you possibly cause damage to unit. the clanging you hear is probably something giving way when the drain pump kicks in and cannot turn. if your mechanicly adept and somewhat adventerous you may try to disassemble the pump and clear it yourself , but i advise against it.

    likely a logic board.
the fact that it goes from start to finish without any 'event' suggests that the board is bad.
    good luck

Press and hold the start and the on/off buttons together. It should come out of demo mode.

you are probably plumbed in under the sink for the drain hose. a common problem is water coming back down the drain hose when you empty the sink. if so take the drain hose up as far as possible in a swan neck. other possibility is a leaking fill valve
