How to Update Sound Driver

Sometime, we will often encounter the situation that the sound driver is froze suddenly or simply unable to play sound while we are playing games or listening to music. These problems are quite difficult to solve for many reasons, but the solutions should certainly include updating the sound driver. Driver updates are sometimes released officially for better functionality or new features. So, Updating sound driver is a good way to fix sound problems. The following steps will show you how to do the updating.

Step 1
Insert the driver installation CD into the computer's CD/DVD driver; a driver installation wizard will load. If you do not have the driver installation CD, you can download the sound driver at the manufacturer's site. Once the file has finished downloading, double-click the file to launch the driver installation wizard.

Step 2
Read through and accept the license agreement presented to you. You cannot install the driver without accepting this license agreement.

Step 3
Click "Next" for both the installation name and location. Changing these settings can result in the computer being unable to detect the driver. Choose "Install," and the sound card drivers will install onto your computer.

Tips:
1. Get the exact model number of your sound card. This is important as a slight change in the model number can mean a great difference in the driver requirement.

2. Go to the sound card manufacturer's website. The native driver is usually your best choice if one is available for your operating system. The sound card maker will usually know how to make the sound card work for the operating system rather than the other way around. Also, the drivers on the sound card website will frequently be available as a self-installing executable so all you have to do is run the installation program. If a native driver is not available for your operating system, search the operating system's website for a driver compatible with your sound card.

I installed the driver (from dell driver website), it installed but there's no sound. i checked the sound card in control panel at sounds and audio devices and it says "this device cannot start (code...

as with most dell pc they dont use factory audio cards you need to find out what sound card your pc has and then go after the correct driver for it in my experience we have found that 99% of all hardware in dell pc's are intel except the sound card to have it detected go to dell.com and click on driver updates then install check to see what sound card manufacture it finds.

best of luck

Hi good night i have ahurricane computer and their is no sound deviece detect

just insert the sound driver cd and reinstall it ...this will bring it back ...If you changed the operation system ...(for example from XP to windows & ...you will need a driver suitable with the new operation system ..and this can be foun on the manufacturer's support site ...If it is not available there try by device name ...Just open the computer ..and read the device model from the sound card ...and let me know ...If it is an on board sound card ..and you do not changed the operation system ...the sound driver will be on the motherboard cd ..that came with the computer ..If you no longer have the cd ...just let me know the exact model of the computer and I will search for the driver if it still has the original configuration ...
If all that do not bring the sound on ...it means that the sound card is corrupted and you need a new sound card ...and if it was a on board one ...just install a PCI one ...

Computer doesnt recognize sound card

One of two things happened - Either the driver for the sound card became corrupted, or the sound card died. First thing to do is go through the control panel, and the add new hardware wizard, see if Windows detects and installs the card. If it detects the sound card, but can't find the driver, open the computer case, make a note of sound card manufacturer and model number, and use the manufacturer's support site to download and reinstall the drivers. (Alternately, if the card is integrated, or was put in the system by Acer, and if you're not concerned about data loss, many Acer desktops have a System Recovery partition, accessible by restarting and holding Alt. + F10 during post/startup - varies for some models)

If driver detection/reinstallation is unsuccessful, power off the system(Unplug the power cord as well), open the case, move the card to a different slot, restart the system, and try driver detection again.

If the card is STILL not showing up in device manager, its likely toast. You can purchase a decent Sound Blaster 5.1-7.1 sound card for under thirty bucks on Ebay, at WalMart, etc.

Sound card model

The easiest way is to open the case and find the sound card, there should be a sticker on it telling you what type of card it is. Sound cards do not usually get plug and play detected.

Sound problem

First of all when you installed the sound card and turned on your pc did your operating system detect the sound card. If it did then you would need to install the software driver. In some cases the operating system will have it built it and configure it on its own. If you installed the software and it you still got no sound, Go to device manager and find the sound card. If its there, right click and update driver. If is still does not do it then right click and remove driver. Restart your computer and it should detect your card and then reinstall software. now if it still does not work or detect your card then possibility bad sound card. Hope thats helpfull to you.
