Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

Open Question

My dishwasher, a Whirlpool DWF B10, is not cleaning properly. When the cycle has finished, there is always a block of undissolved dishwasher tablet/powder left behind. My guess is that the seal to the powder door has gone and allowing the tablet to get wet too early and part dissolve before the door opens - is this likely to be right? If so, can I get a replacement seal or do I have to replace the whole powder & rinse aid containers ??

SOURCE: DISHES COVERED IN WHITE POWDER

To check on the source of the white powder (calcium?) soak some dishes in vinegar to see if this cleans them up nicely ... or if the 'white powder' is actually permanent etching. You may have very 'hard' water and will need to deal with that with a water softener or additives.

Read the following article for a better understanding and try the vinegar test . (also ensure you are using dishwasher specific salt to regenerate your integral softener... assuming you have one)

SOURCE: dishwasher powder/tablet not being used

Yes
The problem is not enough water presure is hitting the soap dispenser. Probably the top rack of dishes is not getting clean either! look for my post about fixing with CLR and use that see what happens then

SOURCE: Soap does not seem to dissolve or clean

Probably a sticky dispenser door. Run for a few times with the dispenser open and put a tablet in the cultery basket

SOURCE: Dishwasher 3 in 1 detergent tablet not dissolving.

I believe that the instructions for using these 3-in-1 tablets is to place it in the open dish detergent cup, rather than in the closable compartment, since the tablet needs to get doused by a lot of water in oder to fully dissolve and be effective in getting the dishes clean.

Since the tablets are designed to dissolve more slowly, they are able to be used for the entire range of washing cycles. If it's a constant problem and you don's have an open detergent cup below or next to your closed detergent dispenser, just toss it into the bottom of the dishwasher instead.

The reason that the tablet isn't getting dissolved fully is because the door is preventing the tablet from dropping all the way out and the door is shielding the tablet from quite a bit of water spray.

Another option is to take a look at your owners manual for the dishwasher and see if they recommend these all-in-one tablets versus regular powered detergent and liquid rinse aid.

Hope that helps and best regards!

SOURCE: Tablets not dissolving

either there is not enough water (check water valve) or the pump filters are clogged (check and clean as necessary)

I have some problems with a Whirlpool DWF 406 dishwasher: The other day, my wife complained about it not finishing a program (just stopped and started bleeping). I saw a post at this forum where it said to...

We have the same problem. The dishwasher is 10 years old. In one of the German forums they said that usually it's because the sieve ahead of the membrane has a fine layer of sludge and the pump cannot pump out the dirty waste water. They said that you have to dismantle the sieve, clean it thoroughly, re-install it, and it should work just like it always did.

Whirlpool DWF 407 IKEA Dishwasher serious problem.

a worn film capacitor on the circuit board is the cause of the problem which often manifests itself after several years using the dwf 407. Replacing the film capacitor on the circuit board is the solution! Such a capacitor costs about GBP 2. The removal of the circuit board that is in the door is not very difficult, four torque screws along the inside top of the door (not the two for the door lock) a click system in which the print is stuck in the door. On the print are a few connectors with wires to loosen-take picture or mark them for reassembly purposes. There are several types of DWF 407, sometimes the print is slightly different. But the culprit is always the big gray block. The value that you must have is 250/275 V 1,5UF. Many electronics stores have them or can order them. Soldering you can do yourself if you have some experience or ask your local handyman. It is not very difficult, you have plenty of space on the board and only two feet soldering required. After that my dishwasher was as new at the fraction of the price
