Question about Viking 24 in. Professional Series VUD040 Stainless Steel (Premium) Built-in Dishwasher
If I turn the left knob to dry, it make a humming noise and looks like it's trying to dry but when I turn the right knob to any of the setting like pots & pans or any other setting, it does nothing.
Is the timer knob broken?
By the way, I unplugged and plugged it back in and it didn't help.
Thanks a lot,

Probable cause is either a bad fill valve, common with these, or just some debris in the fill valve inlet screen, also common. If you are handy you can take apart the fill valve and check the screen but often one needs to replace the whole valve, about an $80 part + labor. Double check your valve under the sink and make sure it is on completely.

disconnect the hose and run it into a bucket, is it pumping freely?.
did you check the trap for a blockage?
You may have a leak in the pump housing area below the unit, this would cause the drain pump to run continually.

Our problem, though for a different make and dishwasher, was solved by this link.http://www.appliancejournal.com/appliance-repair-help/dishwasher-repair-help/ge-dishwasher-repair/ge-dishwasher-motor-repair-problem-100/

if you open the kick plate, you'll see the pan below the motor and check for leaks. The leaks will trigger the sensor to pump water out. Once you dry out the pan, the pump motor will stop and you should be able to reset the program.
