Question about IBM E74 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Distorted screen display

The picture is squashed into about the bottom third of the screen. If the case is tapped sharply, the picture returns to normal, but may collapse again at random. Usually after the screen has been on for more than 10 minutes, it rarely collapses.

Screen stretched out horizontally and distorting picture. None of the settings buttons appear to solve this. I can shift the image vertically or horizontally; but not squeeze it horizontally.

There are adjustments in the size of the items on a screen under the screen properties, settings. If you right click on the desktop screen and then properties you can get there. There is at least one size which causes a distortion of images being displayed. This may be your problem.

Distorted display

Hi,

You could isolate the problem if it is a monitor / video card problem by removing the cable (VGA/DVI) and see if the self test feature will have a distorted display

If Yes - Monitor Problem
If No - Video Card Problem or Software problem

If no, try to go to safe mode by tapping "F8" once you turn the computer on.
1. Select Safe mode (Check for video distortion)
2. Select Enable VGA Mode (Check for video distortion)

If one of the 2 is distorted the video card has a problem

If one of them doesn't show any distorted video it means its a driver/software problem.

Hope this helps.

Desktop distortion of a Picture

you have to make sure that the picture you want to use as a background has similar resolution to that you are using in your actual display. for example if you are using 800x600 resolution you should have a picture close to that so it doesnt look distorted.

Mitsubishi monitor is distorting the picture

well first af all ,you never find this "loose wire" because it is a mith. what you have is a "cold solder" in the vertical IC, if you have a solder iron , and the ability to open it (without scratching), and then take off all the shields (without cutting your fingers), and get the solder area (without breaking the Tube). at this time ,it take you 1 minute to solve...!!! iF not... leave it to the repairman!!!.

Doesn't look very good :( You can try returning to the "factory settings" in your monitor's menu. Maybe try the monitor in another computer to check whether your graphics card is faulty. But all in all it looks like a fault from the monitor :( Good Luck!

Screen Distortion at certain Refresh Rates

Have you connected the laptop to another monitor and use the same refresh rates that cause the distortion? If the distortion appears on a different monitor, then I would have your laptop examined by a pc engineer, but, if the distortion only appears on the 997DF monitor, I suggest having the monitor checked at a repair shop, also, have you tried connecting the 997DF to a desktop PC, and use the same refresh rates?
