The ball bearings have all fallen out of the blade mechanism and it leaks like a sive!!! Customer service says no more units left to sell, even though they took my back order 08/08 for 2 complete new units. Apparently they have stopped making them, even though I was told a new improved line was due out by 11/08. If there is anyway i can purchase a new container or even a compete unit please inform me. I have written the company asking for any assistance and willing to pay for a new container but no reply so far. Other than that I thought the unit did a great job making blednded salads and soups, and am now looking for a more reliable type blender to do the same without paying thru the nose for it (ie;$3-$400+).

It was difficult to contact service personnel. They continously told us they were going to send a new item and they never did.

IT TURNS OUT THE BLADE CAME LOOSE, LEAKED UNDER THE BLENDER AND SPILLER OVER INTO THE MOTOR. I CALLED THE COMPANY THREE TIMES, AND THEY FINALLY TOLD ME THE BLENDER IS NOT IN STOCK AND TO CALL BACK IN 4-5 WEEKS, AND SINCE I DID NOT BUY THE WARRANTY IT CANNOT BE REPLACED, AND IT GETS BETTER...JACK, HIS WIFE, AND THEIR HUCKSTER ARE STILL ON EVERY CHANNEL STILL SELLING THIS.

Why don't blades turn?

When those things are not used for a while the blade assembly at bottom of mixing bowl freezes up. You need to unstick it with a flat blade screw driver in the sprocket. Once you loosen it the motor will work fine and the high speed will complete the cleaning job on the rusty part.

Best blender brand for smoothies and juicing?

I would recommend to invest in a high quality blender that can perform all blending operations. If you're going to blending a bunch and need high speed blender to prepare smoothies and juices quickly. Vitamix will be a great option.

When i turn it onto high speed it willl fuse istanlty. (Even with somthing easy to blend like a smoothie) .Any ideas what could be wrong?

I would suspect a motor fault, most likely an insulation problem in the armature or the fields. Contact Vitamix for your local authorised service agent. Unless it has been assembled incorrectly it should not be one of the internal wires as they are supposed to be secured and correctly routed during assembly.

Blender overheated

If it won't run once it has cooled down, you have probably cooked the electric motor, which is not worth trying to fix.

If you have some time to poke around, it is vaguely possible that a switch has burnt out, which can be fixed/cleaned. Another longshot is a burnt out fuse, but I doubt it has one.

When I make a frappacino I get lots of foam instead a slushie drink

You're blending at a high speed and air is getting introduced. Try a slow blend speed. This should solve your issue.

Grease build up around blade and where it attaches to base

Grease can only creep into the blender vase if the oil seal has worn out, or the blenders blade shaft is worn and wobbling. Try cleaning all parts in alcohol to soften the seals. Rebuild kits and replacement blades can be found here (http://www.brevilleusa.com/breville-parts/blending.html)

Oil Leak-Stand mixer

Leaking of oil in a stand mixer is not necessarily indicative of a large problem.

Kitchenaid stand mixers are overpacked with oil to last the lifetime of the motor. If the motor sits idle for some time (is not used), the oil may begin to drip from the gears and settle. Oil leakage may primarily be seen from around the beater shaft or planetary action.

A stand mixer can lose up to a 1/4 cup of oil before it needs to be serviced.

It is recommended to run the mixer on speed 10 for 2 minutes in order to redistribute oil back into the motor. In order to prevent future occurences, this is recommended to be done every 3 weeks if mixer is not being used.

Waring Pro Blender is leaking and blade assembly is loose

I know this is an old, old post, but I could not find a solution anywhere, so hopefully this will help someone. We have a model 51BL25, similar to scottman55's blender, and it had the same problem. There are two separate nuts in the blade assembly. One holds the blade on, and the other holds the seal tight. When the latter gets loose, the blender shakes and leaks.
To fix it, first you have to remove the top nut holding the blade on. I had to get in there with pliers, but a ratchet with an extension would be perfect. This nut is right-handed ("normal"). Once that nut is loose, you can remove the nut and the blade. You will also want to remove the washer immediately under the blade (take note of which side goes up).
Now, you can pull the whole axle out by the wheel on bottom of the blender. This exposes a really thin, flat nut. In my case, this nut had come completely off, so nothing was really holding the seal together at all. Again, make sure you remember which direction the nut goes -- it is not quite symmetrical. That nut is what comes loose when the blender starts leaking. By the way, it is a left-handed nut, so it screws on counter-clockwise ("backwards"). Screw it in tight, then put the rest of the blade assembly back together, and your done. If you have the right tools, it should take only maybe 5 minutes.
Depending on your problem/model, this may or may not solve your problem. Hope it helps!
