Question about Amana AFB2534DE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator
This is ridiculous! Got my first AFB2534DES two weeks ago. Waited 24 hours still not cooling. I have to give credit to my retailer who went thru lots of trouble to get me a new unit from another store and do a on-site exchange for me. BUT, same thing with the second unit!!! It has been over 10 hours and it is just blowing room temperature air. Fan is running continuously but just no cool air coming from either the refrigerator or the freezer. What can be wrong? What can I check? I thought Amana (same as Maytag) is a reputable brand!

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

SOURCE: refrigerator not cooling
You model if the ARB1950C has a defrost timer inside the fresh food compartment and behind the temperature control panel. Need to see if you can manualy turn the timer clockwise until the compressor stops. During that time of 25 minutes the freezer should be in defrost. I believe your timer needs replaced based on how you explained what is happening. The part number for your timer is 67001036 and can be found at the links below. If it stays longer that 25 minutes then it's sticking in the defrost section of the defrost timer and will need to be replaced. If your refrigerator does not restart after about 25 minutes then slowly turn the timer through the opening in the plastic cover. There may be a plug covering the hole to make the hole not so visible. If you should have problems fell free to let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

From your problem description I would say it sounds like maybe the condenser fan is not running. If that fan does not run, the compressor will overheat, and get very unhappy, LOUDLY. There is a fiberboard cover on the back of the unit, unplug the unit, remove the cover and inspect the fan, it should turn freely if you nudge it with your finger. If it does not turn freely, you will need to make it so by lube, removing foreign object (dead mouse once for me) dust dragons etc... or replace the fan if necessary.
