Question about Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS Receiver

Garmin Nuvi shuts itself off after only seconds during navigation

Why is Garmin shutting itself off after seconds of navigation. I turn it back on and it only stays on for a few more seconds then screen goes black again. Granted today is rainy and overcast and I haven't had this problem before... any suggestions or explanation as to why it is shutting itself down in the middle of navigation? Garmin StreetPilot C330 turns off immediately after I turn it on. I have checked the power source numerous time, and it doesn't work whil plugged in, or when it's not plugged in. Thanks,

Sean

This is often caused by no memory left on the unit, corrupted map or system files and a large trip log. Please see this link for more info on boot-up issues:

I have a Garmin Nuvi 1200 series and it shut off by itself and will not turn back on. It was fully charged when it shut off. I tried holding the on/off button for 10 seconds to try to reset, but it still...

try and get it plugged into a computer using a USB data cable, if the unit comes on most likely all you need to do is go to www.garmin.com and run a software update off the webupdater. and also try holding the power button for 50-60 seconds

I have a samsung syncmaster 943NW which goes on for about 5 seconds and then just goes black. When restarting the screen it does the same again, goes on for about 5 seconds and then black. Is there...

I had the same problem with this monitor (Samsung 943nw)
When turned on it would only stay on for less then a full second.
When shining a light on the screen I could see what was on it, so it was just the backlight that was shutting down.

After I turned down the brightness of the monitor, the next time I powered on the screen the backlight stayed lit and it was back to normal.

Nuvi 225W shuts off as soon as it comes on

Well, I had a similar experience with a nuvi 1300, and perhaps my solution will work for your unit.
I tried holding my power button for 10-15 seconds, which forces it to start, but mine (like yours), would begin starting, get stuck on "Loading Maps." and then shut itself off.
I had to plug it into a USB port of a PC, and it started up for the purposes of data transfer, (not the normal startup). I then unplugged it from the PC and it restarted properly.
Give that a shot and see if it works.

My Garmin 1300 suddenly went to night screen for a couple of seconds and then shut off while driving. And now it won't turn back on even though there is power.

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

My Garmin turns on and shuts its self off.

But it might have a very low charge or a bad battery (despite being connected to Dc) recharge the battery from AC or replace the battery

Garmin 255W turns on and shuts off

Have you tried resetting the unit.Press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of the nuvi for several seconds,DONT use a ball point pen to do this, use something that wont damage the unit,if this doesnt work,do a hard Reset.Or try rebooting by holding the Power switch on for 15 seconds.Good luck.
