Xerox 416 Pro Copier Paper Jamming

Posted by yia2008 on Sep 23, 2008
Hello,
Paper Jam occurs in different areas of the copier. Can you recommend an easy fix for this? Is there lubricant that needs to be applied on rollers or is there another problem? Using 20lb office depot brand copy paper. Also tried Xerox Brand 24 lb copy paper.

Thank you. Comment by yia2008, posted on Sep 23, 2008 Hello,

The copier appears to be in good physical condition. I purchased it used. So I'm not sure of the age of it. It has 89,000 copies on it.

It paper jams often, but will sometimes make 5 or so copies before it jams. it appears to be jamming mostly at the exit point, but sometimes will jam near the enter point from the paper tray (more regularly at the exit point of the copy process.

Hope this helps you determine the problem. Please let me know if you need additional information.
Thank you.

You should first have a check over the roller . Mostly the problem will be the roller only .

But let me know how old is your copier ?

Depending on it we can solve your problem .

On this type of machine, it can be very involved and a service call maybe needed.
What you have here is some rollers are not driving, and they are stalling too quick for you to see. There is a one way clutch on the transport after the copy exits the fuser. This exit transport has many gears and rollers on it.
At about this age the rollers get bound in the plastic bearings. It is very hard to get to them because of the tight fit. Complete dissesembly of this area is a must.

On the drive roller where the gears are held, the plastic bushings are very tight causing binding. When they are turned by hand they should turn free, you will find they are not.

Also this assembly has a switch actuator. Because the assembly is close to the fuser the tip of the actuator is either broken off or decayed over time. The switch needs to be replace and even the sensor itself.

I am sure even if you try to find the parts in the service manual, they can be very hard to find in the images.
If you do have the manual you will find the parts are very difficult to see and when you order them it is not the part you expected to get.

Place the service call, this is a very involved service repair.
As long as the machine is handled good, the machine will work fine.

Sorry for responding late .

As you said you have problem at entry level sheet stops before entering the rolls more likely to be dirty entry , drive problem or sensor problem.

Running sheets with dark lead edge can cause sheets to stick to rollers, try running blank sheets to clean up, if they get through then try normal copies

If it doesnot work .

Rebuild fuser and clean out recycling pump and hoses.

Xerox Workcentre 4150. Paper keeps jamming in print engine area. We clear the jam and it jams again.

If your Xerox WC 4150 is displaying "Clear the Jam in the Print Engine" or constantly jams as paper exits the machine you should check and possibly replace the fuser actuator (part# 120N00534) This is the most likely cause, if however this does not fix the printer the next step may be to replace the sensor or fuser.
Here is a video that shows you how to check and replace the actuator. ItemInc.com has this part in stock and ships same day. Good luck, and thanks for using FixYa!

My workcentre Pro 416 shows a jam, i have removed all jams that i could see. However it shows clear jam, and has 19 to dos on the screen, like open door, clean jam, close door, etc.. Is there a major reset...

On this 416 machine, there is one place you cannot see a jam.
Looking at the machine the right side doors need to be opened.
The lower trays feed paper and need to go up the by pass feeder area.
Just lower and behind the by-pass feeder the paper can get stuck, and you cannot see it.
If you try to push a card stock up from the bottom, the paper can be pushed out.
The other area is at the fuser. If the switch is worn it will not drop back into position. The tip of the switch wears and breaks off.
It is rare a sensor goes out on this machine, besides the fuser sensor. Each paper feed head needs to be checked to see if the paper sensors are bad.
Not seeing the machine, call Xerox for service repair if not resolved.

Copier says paper jam in area 2, no jam

What is the model number of the copier? That would help a lot in knowing what to tell you. The paper feeders are all different. but I suspect bad rollers or sleeves.

E3 paper jam

if the paper is crooked it will come out wrinkled. If not the print is crooked indicating a different problem.
You wil have to look at the paper as it is printing, to see where it is catching, paper ramp maybe ( before the fuser entrance), exit rollers? ( only place I know there are bristles)

E3 is : paper jam in fuser

also check fingers or claws on fuser they catch the paper if worn.

Paper jamming

The fuser drive gear is most likely bad.
You can order one at this location.

https://www.partsdrop.com/store/

If you call ask for Britt, he will help you. Best parts service you can ask for. And NO ITS NOT ME. I just deal with them a lot and highly recommend them.
That gear is in the $15 range.

Xerox 416 Fuser

Is it getting thru the "pinch of the fuser and catching on the stripper fingers? If so clean the fingers, ensure they are not worn or tips broken.(Running sheets with dark lead edge can cause sheets to stick to rollers, try running blank sheets to clean up, if they get thru then try normal copies)
If the sheet stops before entering the rolls more likely to be dirty entry chute, drive problem or sensor problem....need more detail
