Same thing. It use to work, now my computer doesn't recognize it.

  • Anonymous Oct 06, 2008

In fact, the Pearl is detected as a removable storage device ... but not recognized as a media device ... using WM Player you can detect the device (using any other media software).

Resetting the Pearl to factory defaults did not improve the problem.

    Help would be appreciated!

  • navysealgirl Oct 20, 2008

no its not that i didnt disconnect it safely. its that it is honestly a piece of ****. i contacted the rca people.. and they informed me that this is a very common problem with them.. That if you have your receipt then you can get it exchanged for another one.. but that if you dont you can send it to them for them to fix and they will charge you 30 dollars plus S&H.. so honestly since thats about the price i paid for it i am just going to buy a new one..but not that one it wasnt worth it

computer cant find my mp3 player

  • smileygp Apr 22, 2009

I have the same problem! I was using it fine at the gym on Monday and have only had it for 4months and then I tried to use it at the gym again yesterday and it just won't work. It can turn on and the Pearl symbol comes across but then it's stuck like that. I was hoping if I plugged it into the computer maybe that would fix it but no such luck. Now my computer can't even find the MP3 Player. This is so frusterating! I even tried to go on the RCA site and I can't even seem to go on there! Please help! smileygp56@hotmail.com

The problem is probably that you didn't disconnect it safely; you might just have to buy a new one

How to download on my mp3,have never done a download,it is a pearl rca

  • You will need USB cable .
  • It will be provided with your mp3 player.
  • Connect your RCA MP3 player to your computer with the USB cable that came with the player. Plug one end into the Opal player and plug the other end into your computer's USB port.
  • Open the Rca's USB flash drive. Click "Start." Click "My Computer." Click the "USB Mass Storage Drive."
  • Open another "My Computer" window, and locate the music that you wish to download onto your RCA MP3 player. Click "Start." Click "My Computer." Click "My Documents." Click "My Music."
  • Drag and drop the music files you wish to download onto your mp3 player's "Internal Storage" folder (for Windows Vista) or the "Media" folder (for Windows XP).

  • Enjoy the songs....

How to Fix Your RCA Pearl TH1602 MP3 Player from Freezing at Startup

    423a6d4.jpg
Does your RCA Pearl TH1062 MP3 player freeze on startup at the Pearl logo?

Whenever your player acts up, the best solution is to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

    1. start the program,
    2. remove the battery,
    3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
    4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
    5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
    6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

This solution will fix your player.
    I hope that helps.

My computer wont detect the mp3 and connect

Is the player working normally otherwise?

If so, then try the player in a different USB port on your computer. When plugged in, the display of the Pearl should say that it is connected to a USB device and it will show up automatically as a removable external drive in your windows explorer.

If not, then upgrade the firmware in the unit and the computer will recognize it again. Download the firmware upgradefrom http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

    start the program,
    remove the battery,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button the the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
click the start button to replace the firmware.

After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again.

RCA pearl 1602-A won't register when plugged into USB port.

When my computer wouldn't recognize my Pearl, these are the steps I followed after downloading the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1

    remove the battery,
    start the program,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button when the term "initializing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

You might want to try leaving the "format data" box unchecked the first time. If that doesn't work and allow you to backup your music, bite the bullet and format the data area.

After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again. It also fixed my aac-error problem.

I dont know how to put songs on my pearl mp3. can you help me ?

Plug the mp3 player into your computer via the usb port... the automatic detection should pull up a list of things you can do with it... click open folder to view files...if it doesnt if you do not have any other drives hooked up then it should be in the E:\ drive just go to run and type in E:\ and it should open that folder then drag and drop the music files into the "Music" folder that should show up in the E:\ Drive folder then once done unplug it from the computer and it should be on there thats how I do it on mine

    RCA Pearl TH1602 Frozen?

I had the same problem, usually plugging it into the usb port on the pc and verifying the files on the player, then disconnecting the player will solve the problem. Other times i have to reformat the player, if you do that, you will have to put all your music back on. It's a pain, this has happened to me 4 times, I've only had this thing less than 6 months! It was inexpensive, I guess you get what you pay for, but I like having a AAA battery instead of having to remember to plug it in to the pc to recharge every 15 hrs.

Windows vista does not acknowledge Opal M4002a

If the player is not recognize try to connect the mp3 player ona different usb port and check if it will be detected if still not detected better connect this mp3 player to another pc and check if it will be detected on that second pc if not detected there's a possibilty that the mp3 usb functions is not working fine.

Not detected by computer - cannot recharge battery

yay I found a solution! so I kept getting the error about an MTP device, so I did a big search. I am running vista on a 32 bit processor. what you need to download is the MTP installation programme from windows. so click on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211
and then just select what processor speed you need. should do the trick! I also downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en initially, but it didn't appear to work. hope that you all get to the bottom of this frustrating problem :)
