Plug in your phone using the wire you would have received with it (USB). Create a playlist or go to the library of music you would like to sync on your computer and somewhere on the window there should be an icon which looks like a circular arrow (sync). This is pretty obvious in Windows Media Player. Press this and it should give you the option to sync with device. That should be it. Hope this helps

How do I download pics and music from my computer to my phone?

Learn how to make the most of your HTC Inspire phone by transferring music to it.
This will allow you to listen to your music on the go without having to bring along a separate music playing device.
Follow these simple instructions to get started.

1. First, I always recommend that people update their HTC Hero before attempting to transfer music to it. Ensuring that the operating system is up to date is always wise.

2. Next, connect the HTC Hero phone to the computer via the USB cable. When prompted on the Hero screen, allow the Hero to be mounted as a drive.
This essentially allows the HTC Hero to act as an external data storage device, just like a USB thumb drive or external hard drive.

3. On the computer, find the mounted SD Card folder by starting in My Computer (or by looking on the desktop depending on your settings). On a Mac, just look on the desktop for the white drive icon.

4. Now open the folder called DCIM. Within that folder, open the one called 100Media. This is where you need to transfer the music to.

5. Transfer the music by dragging and dropping MP3 files into this 100Media folder.

6. When you are done, dismount/"eject" the SD Card drive by either dragging it to the trash or by right clicking it and selecting eject.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.

How do you get the upgrade the htc hero to 2.1

Getting Started

Before you run the ROM Update Utility (RUU), make sure you have done the following:

  • Backed up the data on your device.
  • Standby or hibernation mode of your PC has been disabled.
  • Close all running applications on the PC.
  • Set aside approximately 25 minutes to allow the device to update.
  • Charged the battery to at least 30%.
  1. Download HTC Sync for Android.

Install the HTC Sync software on your PC if it is not already installed. This software was included in your HTC Hero gift box. The minimum required HTC Sync version is 2.0.28. We have HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 available for download; newer versions might be available from www.htc.com.

HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 (39MB)

  2. Download the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade executable file.

    Hero 2.1 Upgrade (113MB)

  3. Connect your HTC Hero to your PC.

    Use the supplied USB cable.

If the HTC Sync application appears on the screen of your PC, you may simply dismiss the wizard by pressing the Cancel button.

  4. Run the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade RUU file.

Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update for your HTC Hero
WARNING: During the upgrade process, do not attempt to make/receive calls, press any buttons on your device or disconnect the device from the USB cable as this will stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

If you have a problem with the connection between your device and PC be sure to check the connection type in your device. This can be done in the device via Settings -> Connect to PC. Ensure that HTC Sync is selected.

I want Modem Driver for HTC Hero phone using sprint network

Using the HTC Hero as a USB Modem
In order to use this functionality, the HTC Sync software must be installed onto the PC first (http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/synchronise-htc-hero-microsoft-outlook).
The HTC Sync installer is included on the SD card that comes in the Hero sales package, or alternatively is available for download from our FTP site:
ftp://ftpaccess:[email protected]/Technical%20Support...
You can download the software to your PC, or insert the microSD card into a suitable reader to access the software.
Once installed, on the Hero device browse to Settings --> Wireless Controls and enable the option to enable Mobile Network Sharing. Now connect the Hero to the PC via the supplied USB cable. Windows will detect the new hardware automatically and install an "HTC Remote NDIS Network Adapter": Provided that your Hero has a cellular data connection, you will now be able to use that connection from your PC.

Can i download music from widows media player to htc hero

Sure, you could download music from windows media player onto your htc hero, however, most of the time, the music from widows media player includes DRM protection, that prevents illegally duplication and you are unable to play them onto your htc player directly. you have to use some tool to remove drm from wmv files and then put them onto your htc hero.here is a tutorial about how to remove drm from wmv for your reference.

Can i download from itunes to the hero?

you just have to drag the music files onto the SD memory card under a folder called music. There is no way to automaticly sync your music using iTunes (its an apple product & the phone is not). There are some work arounds for this, like tell itunes it should store the music on the SD memeory card, but be carefull and not have it as the only place music is stored.

Playing music on htc hero from itunes library of macbook

One issue should go first ahead of your question --- is the music you want to transfer from iTunes DRM-protected?

1. If they are non-DRM .mp3 or .m4a, you can either use one-stand free iTunes transfer like DoubleTwist or iTunes Agent which dose good job of transferring iTunes music to HTC Hero; or you can manually frag and drop by following those steps:

Step 1. Plug in your phone via-usb to Windows Computer

Step 2. From the "HTC HERO Phone" pull down drop-menu from the top and select with your finger the menu that says "USB Connected Select to copy files to/from your computer.

Step 3. Select Mount ("on the phone")

Step 4. The Default Windows Removable Disk shows up (on the computer), select open folder to view files. Here you will see the phones & applications file structure.

Step 5. Select the file that says DCIM then 100MEDIA this is location for your music, pictures, and videos.

Step 6. Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer in a seprate window on the computer and copy and paste your files into the 100MEDIA location.

Step 7. Final step, from the phone pull down the drop down menu from the top and select Turn off USB Storage - Turn off - you will see SD Sync.

2. If they are DRM-protectd .m4p music .m4v video files or other protected .wma wmv files, a 3rd party DRM Removal Software is a must-have tool to strip DRM license and convert format to HTC supported .mp3 audio and .3gp video.

Transferring is as easy as what was stated above.
