Formatting the card worked perfectly for me. Just need to remember to save any photos from your camera before formatting as all photos are erased

I get the message "card error". What will happen if i pull the write protect switch on the side of the card? Will that fix the problem with the "card error" or what should I do?

The switch controls card protection. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is currently in the lock position, then moving it may solve the problem.

My mem card will only let me move pictures from my cell TO my computer but not also FROM my computer to my cell like it used to before it says "Remove the write on protection or use another disk" i dont...

Hi,

This should help fix the issue,

You will have to open MY Computer or COMPUTER from Start button. Make sure the SD Card is connected to PC.

1) In My Computer, right click on the drive letter of your SD card and
2) Eject it.
3) Then pull the card out and stick it back in.
4) Try to write to the card. If it works, Proceed with your copying.
5) If it DIDN'T work, repeat steps 1 through 4 ( 2-3 times )

If this does not work, there is alternate method.

The Memory card has a write protect slider on the side. Try putting tape around the card to make sure that the slider thing does not slip into write protect mode when inserting the card.

Write-Protection?

Put them into "my sounds" folder or into a music folder and use them from there. The ring tones are wright-protected.

My memory card is locked and i forget the password.........

I have read so many questions how to unlock password-protected memory card. This happens very frequently to some of us (including me). Usually for security reasons, we protect our memory cards with password. It can be done from Memory Card application by selecting Options | Set password menu.

For S60 1st and 2nd Phones
What should we do if we forget the password? For S60 1st and some of 2nd phones, such as Nokia 3650, Nokia 6600 and Nokia N-Gage, the password is stored in a plain text file.
  • Firstly, you need to install FExplorer, a free file manager that allows us to browser through S60 file system.
  • Next, launch FExplorer and then browser to c:system folder. There is a file, called mmcstore.
  • Rename the file to mmcstore.txt and then open it. Your password must be several characters at the end of the file.
For S60 3rd Phones, Nokia N-Series and Nokia E-Series
Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the password in the latest S60 phones. The only way that I know so far is by reformatting the memory card. It can be done from Memory Card application by selecting Options | Format memory card menu. Of course, you will lose all your data in the memory card…

Check the memory whether the lock ( a small switch on the memory card) is activated. If so deactivate it.

Memory card is protected how do i switch on memory card when i turn camera on, message reads that the memory card is protected and to reset switch on memory card. what happened?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Well... If it's telling you that it's write-protected, then you most likely have an SD memory card in the memory card slot.

Take this card out of the memory slot. Inspect the memory card for a small, white tab on the side of the card. Notice that this tab slides up and down. Move it in the opposite direction of it's current position.

Insert the card into the camera, turn it on and see what happens then.

Keep in mind that the camera also has built-in flash memory. If it wasn't the SD memory card, then perhaps there is a setting in the camera's options that was used to write-protect the internal memory as well? (Doubt that's the case with the internal memory, however. Never heard of a camera doing that before.)

I'm sure that checking the mem card and sliding the white tab forward will fix your problem. Let us know.
