The VTech 6041 isn't an answering machine. If you have a separate answering machine connected to your phone line, please consult its documentation. If you're subscribed to a voicemail system provided by your telephone company, please contact them for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.
Alternatively, if you do have an answering machine connected to your phone, reply to this post and specify the make and model of your answering machine.
Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 phone I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual and the remote access instructions.
Hello, When you configured your telephone you must have come across the Remote Access option, in which you chose a secret remote access code or accepted the one by default. If you don't remember that then you should reconfigure it and choose a secret code different from the factory default. While you are at it configure the Toll Saver option too. (more about that later)
When you are away you dial your home number and when you telephone invites you to leave amessage, enter your Remote Access code. You will be read various options, among which there is the Hear New Messages option (if there are new messages). After hearing your messages you hang up. and you will be charged by you telco.
With Toll saver On, you telephone answers after 2 rings, if there are new messages, and after 4 rings if there are NO new messages. If your telephone does not answer after the second ring (if you hear the 3rd ring) that means you have no new messages, and you can hang up without being charged by your telco.
Remote Operation When you are away from home, you can operate your answering system with any touch-tone telephone.Use this function to check for recorded messages, to play or delete messages, even record a new greeting message. 1) Call your telephone number. 2) During the greeting message, press 0 and enter your PIN code. 3) The answering system announces the current time and the number of messages stored in memory. Then you hear "To play incoming message, press zero two. For help, press one zero." 4) You may continue to listen to the voice prompts, or you may select a command from the following chart:
