Question about Samsung Digimax D53 Digital Camera

7 Answers

3 beeps One day my camera was working fine. The next day, I tried to turn it on and the lens came out just a little and then it stopped and beeped three times. It now makes this noise everytime that I try to turn it on. It did this before when the lens was uneven. However, the lens appears to be in proper place so I don't understand why it is doing that.

My Digimax D53 Digital Camera has the problem in which the light flickered and the lens came out. I don't know if it's all the way, but the lens are out. I thought the reasons were the batteries so I tried some cheap ones and hoped they'd work. They didn't and then I tried my remote batteries. Those didn't work ither. So now my lens is stuck out and I tried to bang it on the floor/wood. But I have no idea which side to bang, so if thats the solution can you tell me where? Also if its the batteries, what kind should I buy?
ALSO I left my camera's battery container open.. Like the bottom part in which you slide to the right and it opens to put in 2 double A batteries, could that be the problem?

If you already tried replacing the battery and it didnt solve the problem,
call 1-800-SAMSUNG and set up a repair for your camera.

Three beeps when i try to turn it on

i had the same problem a while back. I fooled around with my camera lens a bit and it turned out that one side of the lens was sticking out a bit. I pressed down on this and pushed the power button and it worked. The next time I turned it on the same thing happened but if you keep doing the same thing it should work.

Hope this helps!

Beeps repeatedly, lense won't retract...won't take pictures?

Hi Jeanice21, I just posted the same problem a few minutes ago with my SD400. I followed a few steps of the suggested solutions and here's what worked for me.

1) take apart the front and back by unscrewing the six screws holding the camera together
2) on the left of the flash, there are two little retangular holes with grooved dials in them
3) using a little flat head screwdriver, push up or down to turn the grooves while power up in the movie or capture mode
4) the lens retracted at this point and my camera started working again. Good luck!

Not sure about the battery... that could be it and I haven't tried switching it out for a new one yet, but in the meantime I am getting around this problem my grabbing the lens with my fingers and "helping" come all the way out... just give it a little pull, a little encouragement and it will come all the way out... but the trick is that you have to do it right after you try to turn it on and before you get the beeps...

So if your lens is stuck out right now and the camera is powered off, then turn the camera on and then pull the lens out before you get the beeps... once you give it a little tug, the mechanics should take over and it will extend all the way... the LCD will come on and you'll be good to go...

Like I said, I'm having this problem too and my girlfriend suggested we change the battery... I guess that's possible, that the battery is not holding enough of a charge to push the lens all the way out... I'll investigate how much a new battery costs and then determine if I think its worth a try...

When I try to turn on my camera (Samsung Digimax S500), it beeps 3 times.

My Samsung S500 kept shutting down (with lens extended but no beeping) as soon as it was turned on. After reading similar problems being caused by a jammed lens mechanism, I GENTLY twisted & tugged the extended lens mechanism (no crude comments please), and it worked the next time it was turned on.

The lens is jammed.
This is a result of damage to the gear in the motor asssembly.
The gear teeth have been broken off & as a result the gears that drive the opening& closing of the barrel dont mesh together resulting in the jam and your 4 beeps!!

Power does not stay on.

Check out the Samsung Tech Help Team But A stuck lens that is then given some 'help' does not bode well- these are very delicate mechanisms- Chances are it is now damaged - and repairing Digi Cameras is not an economic or technicalfeasability
