Here's the problem. Neither your computer nor anyone here at FixYa "took" your dialtone away.

Rather than ask us, call the company that provides dialtone. If it happens to be the same company that gives you inernet service, then you're on your way to troubleshooting the problem. If, it's the phone company, they might ask silly things like did you pay your bill, do you have dial tone at the demarc (box outside), and advise you that they'll charge if the problem is not theirs.

O.K. I'll play your silly game. What does one have to do with the other?

My phone has no dial tone and when you call the phone it has a busy signal. There is no static just sounds like it is not hung up.

Phones show line in use. Can not find a phone where this is the case. What do I do?

This indicates an off hook condition of the telephone line, to test it you could disconnect the telephone cable from your wireless system base and connect to it a standard wired phone, if you have dial tone and can make and receive calls, the line is OK and the failure is at the base of your wireless telephone system, if you don't have dial tone with the stardard telephone there's a telephone network failure (the telephone wall plate, internal or external cables, etc) and this should be reported to your phone company to be fixed.

Phone won't transfer to next free line when a second call comes

If you are not getting a dial tone then something is holding the line off hook. Disconnect any other device you have on your lines and check to see if you get your dial tone back. If you still have no dial tone unplug each phone and check again. You may have to disconnect everything for a minute or two so the phone company will reset its equipment. Plug in your phones one at a time and check your dial tone every time you add something new.

If you add something and you loose your dial tone immediately you may have a crossed connection in the wall socket, any splitters or in the phone plug. Check to make sure all of the wires in those sockets are straight before you plug in your phone wire.

If you add your CC machine and everything is good but it fails after you run a transaction you will have to contact the supplier of your CC machine. It is not hanging up the line.

No Dial Tone

Dear Sanyte1226,
Double Check that all handsets are registered, and make sure that you don't have to many phones connected to the jacks throughout your home. If all fail, very slowly, make sure the phone is on speaker, and slowly move the telephone port into the jack SLOWLY like slower than slow motion. If you here clicking, keep pushing it in slowly until you here a dial tone. I know this has happened to me before.
Best of luck, The Writer.

No dial tone

Please disconnect your cordless phones from telephone jacks throughout the home. The "line in use" is say that you have a short on the line, or a phone off the hook. So disconnect lines, then replug 1 corded phone in to check for dial tone. If working, continue to plug in 1 phone at a time(rechecking working one each time) to find the equipment that is causing you heartache.

Dial tone

I disconnected the RadioShack phone/answering machine and plugged in an old phone. At first I didn't get a dial tone, but in a minute or so, I did get one. I doublechecked the connection with the incoming phone jack. (I had checked this before, but didn't see anything wrong.) Again, I didn't see anything wrong, but maybe that did it. Also, when I disconnected the RadioShack from the incoming phone jack, I disconnected from my computer (I used to have dial-up connection).

Don't know which of my actions worked, but now I have dial tone on Radio Shack.
Hoooooooray!!!!

is your computer hooked up dsl or dial up? unplug all the phones and computer from the phone jacks.plug a corded phone into the jack and check for dial. if you don't have dial tone, call your phone company. if you do have dial tone, plug everything in one at a time and see if the phone line goes dead.if it does, the last thing you plugged in is the problem.
