First try this :

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

First of all how is the unit under warranty? How long have you owned the unit? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thanks,
Lee

Did you reset the printer? If that doesn't work then the printer requires service.
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro...
Follow that link to locate the nearest authorized service center. You can get an estimate as to how much this will cost and decide on whether or not you want to repair or replace it. If you need any further assistance at all please let me know. If you have a moment to accept and rate my solution I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,

you hold the stop button and the on/off button I believe on that model. Let me know if that does anything. If not then you will want to consider the repair or replacement options I gave you. If you have any other questions or need any assistance let me know.
    Thanks,

I am trying to print on my Canon MP830 and I have had two error messages. 5C10 and 5100. I don't know what these errors are can you please help?

There seem to be a number of involved suggested fixes for the 5C10 error code.

Please go to this web page, and click the "Service and Support" link.
This will display a "Please enter your question" field. Type "5C10" into the field and click the Search button.
The first entry displayed will be a link to "ERROR LCD: Error Code 5C10" -- click the link
Three new links will eventually display:
  • Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device
  • Removing paper jams MP800R / MP830 / MP530
  • The MP830 may require repair

Click each link to see if the solution provided is appropriate to your situation.

Service error 5c10

This error is a message indicating print head/ink failure on the printer.
I would try the following 2 things:
1. replace the ink cartridges/print heads. test to see if the problem is fixed.
2. If this does not solve the issue, you may need to either send it to the manufacturer for repairs (if under warranty), send it to a local repair person to service- or look for a new printer to buy (which may actually save you money).

Hi,

You can send the printer to Canon to get the bad hardware replaced, if you dont want to buy a new printer.

But I would suggest to go for a new one.

Error message : service error 5c10 on a canon

You can try and clear the error by holding down the power button and waiting for it to turn off then wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. {you might need to unplug it to get it to turn off}

or

Hold down the stop/reset and then push the power button while the printer is on. The printer should shut off then wait 30 seconds and then hold the stop/reset again and push the power button and the printer should turn on with the error cleared.
