Question about Zenith E44W46LCD 44" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have a large blue spot that begins at the top middle of the sceen and works it's way 3/4 of the way down the screen. It get's worse (larger) the longer the tv is on. I have also recently been getting blue specs in the bottom middle section of the tv. These appear to be more of a pixel issue. It began with 4 or 5 and has grown to 50 or 60 in the past week. Over the weekend I opened the tv to expose the lens and mirror. Neither appeared dirty or dusty but i did clean them anyway and the issues did not change. I have heard that this may be a voltage or soldering issue, both of which I feel comfortable checking and adjusting I just need to know which points to test, what their readings should be and which pot goes with which test point. If and where I can get a schematic would be good too. Any help is appreciated.
If you haven't heard yet, there is a class action lawsuit against LG/Zenith for this very problem. They are extending the warranty on certain models. Call Zenith at 800-243-0000 and press the prompt for electronics. Here is a link to the their website regarding the lawsuit.
I just happened to check the website. I've had the blue blob for over a year now. Looks like I will be getting a free repair ! You can also get reimbursed if you paid for a repair for this problem. It is a faulty light engine. Good Luck!
