Question about Televison & Video
I have a 2002 Mitsubishi 65" Widescreen Rear Projection HDTV. Occassionally, the picture will get out of convergence, usually just for a few seconds, but sometimes for a minute or so, and then will go back to a normal picture. It seems to happen to both SD and HD material. Also, my screen will do a very annoying flashing of the entire screen sometimes. It seems like this happens when there is a lot of brightness on the screen, such as a large amount of bright whites. I notice this most when playing videogames, such as Halo, and it is very irritating. I have gone back into the menu and reset the convergence, and it does not seem to matter--these things still happen regardless. Is this a sign that my TV is almost done for, or is there something I can do to fix it? I have been considering an HD projector, but I certainly don't mind postponing the expense of a projector and screen if this is an easy fix. On the other hand, I don't want to shove a bunch of money into this TV if it just a matter of time before it dies on me. What do you think?

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

you "tooled around with the convergence board" well this chassis has several problems if the convergence doesnt hold replace both stks resolder around that area per tosh tech bulletin the bright problem is probably the hyper module all toshs should be checked with toshiba website to see if they were part of the recalls for power supply caps

I have a Samsung HCM5535W rear projection TV that had pretty much the exact same problem-- a green halo around bright white images. I researched it on the net, and determined the most likely problem was with the convergence STK-ICs, or the convergence board. I bought a replacement board with the STK ICs and installed it, but no luck, the problem persisted. I decided to mess with the manual focus adjustment on the green crt (i was seeing a green halo), and that fixed it. As it turns out, no replacement parts were necessary to fix the problem in the first place. Hope this helps somebody out there.

there is a section in the tv working just to keep the screen fitting top to down (vertical section) some capacitors are dry now in that area. this one has not to be a expensive job in the workshop. Try estimates

Tonight I have to do this fix again..the blue lines came back about a week.

It is most likely the tube going out. Find some one to replace the tube if the TV is fairly new other wise it is going to be a trend. One tube now and another.. and so on. Ride it out as long as you can then go for an upgrade
