well there are several possibility's. What was the washer doing? Rinse or cleaning? If there is standing water in the tub, then the pump went out or is clogged.
I don't have the answer - but mine has been doing this too. There's now a metalic/electical smell that has me worried so I've resorted to a basin of water and fairy liquid! Did you solve your problem?
The washer has a drain motor in line with the outlet pipe. The motor must turn when in outlet mode. This motor has an impeler that turns at high speed to pump out water in the outlet mode. The motor could be faulty or the lelectrical push on connectors to the motor loose. One can remove the motor and coonect it directly to the mains voltage for a few seconds to check if it spins (also make sure that nothing is blocking the impeler from spinning).
This is caused by the Anti-Flood device at the base of the machiene being activated. This device detects water leaks and is a polystireene float / micro switch that puts the machiene in pump out mode only. You need to determine where the leak comes from (pipe or perforated hose pin hole or pipe clamp etc.) If you tilt the washer and some water comes out from the bottom it is a clear indication that there is a small leak.
Have you checked that the cover for the water inlet at the top where it connects to the spray arm is attached? It could have worked loose. Just re-attach and your spray arm should "miraculously" start rotating again!!
