Hi there
xp on floppy ?
you would need over a hundred disks to do it that way, have you got that many ?.
as xp was never released on floppy, somebody has tried to chop it up to fit so my advice would be that you will encounter a lot more errors, give it up as a bad job and borrow a copy of windows on cd from some one.

My computer will not start up it tell me to insert a system disk. what is a system disk

Your computer cannot boot up because it cannot find a boot up program from any of your boot devices.
This fault could be caused by a faulty hard disk or you have a non-boot floppy disk in the floppy drive. In this case remove the floppy disk and boot up your computer again.
If the hard disk is faulty, replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard drive, plus the computer's device drivers and your programs to get the computer operating again.

Page fault in non paged area!!!?!?

Hage you tried taking all the power away from the computer, letting it sit and then trying to boot again?
That is called a hard reset.

I suspect that you had a hard drive problem Your operating system may need to be re-installed ( I see you do not have an operating system disk) and/or have your hard drive system check. If you can get on the internet thru another means, most hard drive manufacturers will have test programs for their disks.
Those are generally loaded on a floppy, CD or USB thumb drive and used upon computer start up. If you are not comfortable with doing what I just suggested. You may need someone with some technical expertise to help you,

I hope that you found this information helpful. If you did, please leave positive feedback for me.

Thank You,
Brian

How do I change boot order on Dell Diminsion 2400 XP Home?

Have you tried using a boot disk that gives you cdrom support?

If not, download those files and make a floppy boot disk, then set bios to boot from floppy and toss that disk in.

I think this website should have the files you need

Hope that helps you

I have Acer Desktop AcerPower and i want to install windows xp but there is message say no hard drive found

It's probably because your PC has the new SATA interface hard drives, you need to load a special SATA driver from acer through floppy disk during at the beginning of windows XP setup, for it to find hard drives on your pc.

You should check Acer web page and look for the drivers (the acer's europe page is faster BTW). If your PC came with windows vista or doesn't have floppy drive bay, there's a chance that you won't find this driver (and you'll have to keep using vista), unless some other model of your PC were sold with XP.

I have a HP 8595c computer. I put a DVD in and it froze. I restarted the computer and now it won't boot up proberly. I get this message. "Non-System disk or disk error Replace and strike any key...

Non-System Disk or Disk Error results when the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) cannot find the boot sector or the master boot record is missing or damaged; i.e. the device does not have bootable media. The BIOS searches drives in the order usually specified in the CMOS Setup. This order is often, but not always, A: (floppy drive), C: (first partition on the hard disk)… The error will occur during startup if the CMOS is set so the BIOS seeks the floppy drive first and a non-bootable (or blank) floppy is in (was left in) the floppy drive. Other causes include:

No bootable partition on a hard disk drive
  • A defective hard disk drive
  • The CMOS drive settings (parameters) are not correct for the boot device
  • Defective floppy
  • Defective floppy drive
  • A virus

    Problem with disk drive A:

First, you should try to keep the floppy drive. If you can find one, I highly recommend getting the floppy drive cleaner diskette. They're hard to find now, but it's worth it if you want to continue to use your floppy drives. If cleaning it doesn't resolve the issue, next item to try is replacement of the floppy drive. You can borrow a floppy drive from someone, plug it in and test to side if it fixes the problem, if not, then it's either a motherboard issue (which I doubt) or a software/windows XP problem (more likely of the two). In which case I would recommend reinstalling windows XP to see if it fixes the problem before shopping for a new motherboard or a new computer.

    Good luck

The problem of your laptop is the hard disk type. because acer 5220 laptop is using a SATA hardisk that automatic detected or supported by Vista. But in the windows Xp you need to download the sata driver for windows xp and save it to the floppy drive. In the beginning of windows installation press F6 to install another device or scsi the windows setup search your floppy drive for the sata driver and install it automatically. System recovery

It sounds like the boot sector on your main hard drive is corrupted. You should have created an emergency boot disk when you first purchased the computer. Since you don't have the oroginals you should borrow a system CD from a friend and boot up that way and try to a recovery. Selecting F8 during the bootup sequence allows one to start if Safe mode, but I believe (I usually run Linux) you still need the boot sector on the main hard drive to be valid in order for this to work. The F1 gets you to the Bios screen (?) where you can select the boot sequence (hard drive, CD, or floppy first/second/third), among other things. Hopefully someone with more Windows experience than I can assistance better than I can, I just thought I'd throw that out there.
