Xerox XD130df empties toner back into cartridge overflow
I replaced the toner cartridge and drum. I reset the counter as instructed. When I start the copier, the green knob above the drum cartridge continually spins and fills the small reservoir overflow with toner. The toner comes through the narrow tube where it meets with the toner cartridge. It will not stop until I turn off the machine. It will not make copies while doing the above.

Re: Xerox XD130df empties toner back into cartridge...
That really sounds like a defective toner cartridge. Either there was no developer in the cartridge or the metering blade that limits the ammount that gets onto the roller is bad.
Has to be the toner cartridge. Unfortunatly that may have also ruined the drum and cleaner within the drum cartridge. Return them for an exchange.
The reason it is running and running is that it is trying to read a patch that is developed on the drum and add toner to make a dark enough copy. And that definatly is not happening.
If the laser was not turning on, the machine would come up with a L something code. Besides if the laser was not comming on, the paged would be blank.
You can pretty much eliminate everything but the toner cartridge.

Hold down the Go button for 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Then release the Go button
Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back into the printer.

4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.

Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!
On the TN-155 toner cartridge, a mechanical 'flag gear' that will reset the counter for each individual cartridge when first 'triggered'. After each page print, the appropriate counters are incremented regardless of toner content (that is why it is still printing 'flawlessly') and after a pre-determined count has been reached, you will get a warning to change the drum as is will then be notionally (not actually) empty. Before you decide to reset the 'flag gear' on the drum, make sure you are not actually nearing the physical empty state ... it might be a wiser decision to purchase a refill kit which should come with instruction on how to fill and reset the 'flag gear' (this needs some dismantling of the drum cartridge) or buy a compatible or genuine toner drum cartridge. In any case, Google 'Brother drum flag gear' for more information. Good luck!
Hi Please follow the bellow instruction… Open the front panel. Remove the toner and the drum. Remove the toner from the drum. On each side of the toner, there should be a little glass. Put the piece of duck tape on one of them. Put everything as it was. Turn on your printer. Now, the low toner light should be gone and the green light should be on. Now, you can empty your cartridge. If the Drum light is still lit after replacing the drum unit, the Drum counter may not be reset. Reset the Drum counter as follows: Open the front cover. Locate the control panel button under the LED lights on the left side. Pres the control panel button until all lights are lit, and then release it.
1. turn off XD125f 2. Turn on 3. within 4 seconds press, clear, auto, clear, auto. LED Should go blank, if not try again 4. use copy quantity keys to enter 24, then push start 5. Again use copy quantity keys to enter 7, then push start 6. turn off when you restart the cartridge count will be set to zero
I have done this twice and never replaced the drum cartridge.
What has most likely happened is the fuse either fell out of the new cartridge or is not making good contact. Look on the top of the cartridge, there is a sliver and glass fuse that is supposed to be on the cartridge to reset the toner counter.
Be sure that fuse is there. If it isn't the cartridge will not reset.
If thats the case you can replace the fuse with a good one or contact whoever you purchased the cartridge form for a replacement.
J2 is the indication that the Drum Cartridge life has elapsed. The possibly exists that the Customer has installed a New Drum Cartridge. The Customer would be directed to change their Drum Cartridge by their User Guide. This action on the part of the Customer will cause the Drum Reset Switch to actuate for a moment when the Side Door is closed. This is with the provision that the Drum Reset Circuit is working properly. That momentary actuation of the Drum Reset Switch, being actuated by the New Drum, resets the Drum Counter. Should something be faulty with either the reset mechanism on the New Drum Cartridge, or the Drum Cartridge reset Switch circuit, the Counter will not reset. Note: A new Drum Cartridge will NOT reset the Drum Counter unless the machine is holding a J2presenton the display. The first revolution of the Drum will render the Drum Cartridge used.A Used Drum Cartridge will NOT be capable of resetting a J2. Again, one revolution of a new Drum Cartridge will render it to be a used Drum .
You need to manually reset the CRU counter in the service menu to reset the toner count. This is designed so the xerox tech can come in and get paid for work. What you do is the following:
Enter the service mode by turning the machine off....then hold the (i) button and (<) arrow button simultaniously while turning the machine on. Then go down to nvram access enter menu, then go to CRU menu. Then go to the Toner CRU count menu, then select the toner you wish to reset and allow the machine to reset.
