Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television

Trying to find the fuse and resistor locations

Working on a sony kp57ws500, trying to find the 3.5 a pico fuse location, and the 4.7 watt 1/2 amp resistor locations that go along with replacing the convergence IC's

    Think I found everything. Power up set and picture comes up, no led blinks YEAH...Picture still looks bad, bowed in at top and bottomb and red and blue shadows left and right side. Looks good in the middle though? Any ideas ?

    I replaced one pico that read open, all 30 of my resistors read 1.4-1.6 ohms. Could mine not be 4.7 ohms or is possible that I need to buy and replace all 30 resistors under the heat sinks ?

    Also powering the set up to see if it worked for a short time won't hurt my new IC's on the D board will it ?

    Nevermind, I just found where you said I have to unsolder one side of every resistor to check it so I will do that. I also hear alot about the pico 5am fuses and caps on the G board ? Better check em also I think !

Did you replace the picos and check the 4.7 ohm resistors / Thats usually whats wrong when the old ICs go out they take the picos and often some of the resistors as well.

Where is the fuse located for the convergence IC for ws65807


There are two 5 amp pico fuses on the same board as the IC the board location jmbers are f(A04 and F9A05 they are solid green and look like a resistor without color bands.

As I plan to do my convergence repair for my 46" projection tv,resistors are mention to be replace aside from the 2 convergence IC's as well as the 6 pico fuses ( 2 for the G board and 4 for the D board )...


Just replace Both of the STKs but CK all the pico fuses in front and behind STKs they are yellow or green 5amps 6amps For Parts Call Mats Electronic 1-800-628-1118 I have changed out alot and so far have never had to replace any resistors.

Convergence parts? What are the specific pico fuses and resistors


There are six 3.15 amp picos use 3.5 amp when replacing and there are two 5 amp picos on the G board the resistors if needed are 4.7 ohm 1/2watt

you will need to replace the two STK392-560 ICs and also check the 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistors and the six 3.5 amp pico fuses.

I can help with the PICOFUSES...they are 4 amp Pico.

As for the resistors, if ANY are burned, look at the convergence amp next to the damaged ones...those resistors are a mirror-image of the damaged ones.

You NORMALLY do not need to replace the resistors, ONLY the picofuses.

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me'.

Based on your original post, only the STK ICs were replaced. Presumably 392-040, the surrounding resistors and pico fuses could very well have been affected as well. Depending on the board revision (pls confirm location numbering on the actual board), the resistors could be:
RZ104 -RZ106 - 270 Ohm 1/2watt
RZ133-RZ135 - 27K Ohm 1/16 watt
RZ136 & RZ138 - 3.3K Ohm 1/8 watt
RZ146 and RZ147 - 3.9 Ohm 2 watt
RZ148 and RZ149 - 150 Ohm 2 watt
while the pico fuses would look like the image below.

The only items on your set that should need replacement would be both convergence IC IC801 and IC802 which are both STK392-570 and you will also need to change the two 5 Amp pico fuses which are F9A04 and F9A05 they are both % amp pico fuses. All parts are located on the center Board

STK392-020 ICs are the convergence ICs for your model, you may also want to check the 3.5 amp pico fuses and the 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistors as well.

You have to check each one, but you need to lift one side of each resistor out of circuit to test by unsoldering one leg, as a open resistor can pick up resistance from the circuit and test good when its actually open.

If you look at the Convergence ICs you will notice a row of resistors under the fins of the heat sink. Those are the 4.7 ohm resistors. Also in that same row of resistors you will notice the 6 yellow picos they are all lined up the picos have 4 grouped together then 1 more on each end of that row or resistors.
