Question about Canon ImageClass D861 Printer

Replacing the fixing film for the Canon D861

I read your directions for replacing the fixing film on the D880. Will the same steps work to replace it on my D861? Is there anything I need to be aware of before attempting this task? I bought the copier at a salvage store for only $40.00 and have used it a year. I don't want the expense of a service call and opted to attempt the job myself. Thanks in advance for your help.

Same directions, just be careful when applying silicone grease- only use a thin film
and cover entire area that the film rides on. DO NOT damage film!
sorry I could'nt post earlier been busy

Canon imageCLASS D861 - Windows 7 - 64 bit Is there anyway to update the 32 bit printer to the 64 bit OS?

Hello,

Unfortunetaly, there is no solution for your problem, Canon did not made drivers for 64-bit OS's.

Alterantively

You can try download Windows XP mod for WIndows 7 or any other virtualization software, and try to install drivers on the virtual PC.
This should work for you.

My xerox machine cannon IR 2020 shows a system error E007. How can I solve it? Please describe step by step.

E007 - Fixing film rotation error

You have to disassemble fuser unit and inspect a fixing film, if damaged - replace.

The official documentation says:
E007 0000 Fixing film sensor failure
The fixing film sensor is faulty. - Check the connector of the fixing film
sensor.
- Replace the fixing film sensor.
- Replace the DC controller PCB.

ImageClass D880 Copier: printer is double printing...

If you are getting ghost images repeating on the page about 3 -4 inches apart it is probably a failed fixing film. It would require a skilled tech to replace the film if that is all that is wrong. If the damage is more than just the film it may require an entire fuser ***'y. I would expect an hour labor and $75 for a film, or $200 for a fuser ***'y.

Is the fixing film part of the fusing unit or can it be replaced separately

Generally, if the film is worn, so are the other parts in the fuser. I recommend replacing the the entire fuser.

I don't think Vista is supported for this printer and if not doubt that it will be as Microsoft are bringing out a new OS to replace it.

Error E007 canon IR 2016

An error in the rotation of the fixing film is detected.
The reading of the main thermistor is 100°C or higher and, in addition, the fixing film sensor does not detect the rotation of the film for 6 sec or more while the fixing motor is driven.

To clear the error, execute the following in service mode: -
COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR>ERR.

to open service mode press star press 2 and 8 key same time then press star again.

Is there a fault in the fixing film edge rotation detection mechanism?
YES: Replace the fixing film unit.
