Reinstall Avast Professional if you want and after doing that, update your virus definition and do a full scan of your computer.

Hi bbakori,
Try to uninstall your newly installed Kaspersky 2009. Beware, before doing so be sure to disconnect your laptop from internet.
Let me know how your laptop works after uninstall.

My toshiba satelllite l455d-s5976 ive done everything and it still runs extra slow

A common problem for slow computers is conflicting anti virus software. Do you have more than one installed on your computer? like say Avast and Microsoft security essentials etc.? If so try disabling or uninstalling them. You can also use a program called CCleaner available for free from download.com (<--click this link) and use it to clear out junk files and more importantly fix your registry. A lot of registry errors can really slow down a computer. Hope this helps!

Hi,
I know this issue is related to Avast AntiVirus, please try Safe Mode, and run an utility to uninstall Avast
Then you can install instead Microsoft Security Essential (MSE), highly recommended.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for multiple avast versions).
  • 1. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 5.0 and then for 5.1 (if it has a 5.1 option).
  • 2. once complete reboot into normal mode.

Very slow to boot. Internet is slow. Overall performance is slow. wanting to wipe out all programs on laptop. start from scratch. wasn't like that to start with

Open Task Manager and look in there for the program that grabs most memory and CPU, uninstall it and try again. Do that till it runs smoothly.

Laptop is freezing randomly. sometimes doesnt work at all. sometimes only parts work.. keyboard, mouse etc. sometimes wont turn off. sometimes freezes then responds 10 min later

Seems like really hard problem, maybe something with laptop motherboard. But on other side, it can be just some virus. Try google for Eset Online test and let it scan your computer for viruses. its free. Always use good antivirus. One of best is Avast. And its free. Download it from avast.com (Home edition).

Avast4 licence expired but I cannot uninstal from my computer

Hi, Sometimes it´s not possible to uninstall avast! the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use avast! uninstallation utility aswClear. You can download it from http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Steps to follow for uninstalling are:
  1. Download aswClear5.exe on your desktop
  2. Start Windows in Safe Mode
  3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
  4. If you installed avast! in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
  5. Click REMOVE
  6. Restart your computer

Cheers!
