My ge over the stove microwave works for a few minutes then shuts down for about 20 minutes before it will work again.

Notice that there are few physical barriers to protect the control panel from any cooking fumes from so the "short" could likely be due to some condensed vapors. In order to heat the control panel, tear it down and place the separate elements on the dryer rack for 20 minutes on high. Once it's done, re-assemble and re-install it into the microwave, plug the power cord back and wish for the best. It worked for me, hope it works for you...

my spacemaker xl jvm 1650 microwave shuts down after just a few minutes of operation and after a few minutes needs to have a clock/time/day etc reset. is this reparable by a homeowner?

try to checked the fuse if its blown.and replace a new one,check also the power cord.

If you just put the fan blade back on, it will almost certainly fall off again.

The best bet is to slightly rough up the contact area of the shaft with sandpaper and use a little super glue to hold the blade assembly on the shaft, and let it set a few minutes before using it.

I always recommend that you use the hood vent exhaust fan when cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

This sounds like the unit is defective and if I were you I would return for replacment!

this would be the digital control board that would need to be replaced

It may be a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel, such as a sticky relay.

I would suspect a sticky relay first, but the door switches should be checked.
