The down grade from H3LL , why in the world go to the biggest
virus magnet on earth. nor is XP supported. in fact most web site even ban the old IE used on it and can IE can not be upgraded to E11, at all.

the track pad will only work with the XP driver, loaded.
the keyboard will only work , for the same reasons,
a driver, guess what HP and MS no longer have drivers this PC.
hp only supports VISTA 32 or 64 bit on this PC that is a fact.
see for your self, facts.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-presario-f700-notebook-pc-series/3548233/model/3682525

if you install XP on this PC , gee you dont have XP disks from HP so how did you do that, from DELL disks or hackers?
if you installe XP in the lofty year 2018 what happens
you get infected easy.
MS driver support called Plug and PLAY PNP is now dead for XP
leaving what, well only 1 possible way
lets do the track pad first.

the pad is called Synaptics Touchpad
the vista driver (useless for XP , totally) this driver is 2007 issued
11 years ago.
is here , it does pad and the keyboard all at once. on huge file.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37001-37500/sp37065.exe

i downloaded it and read the INF files and HP
seems to have hidden XP driver in the Vista package
only you can run this and see, if it works
i know how to read install files but can not test XP here
we ended it back in 2009(oct) as all wise folks do and use window 7.

XP support ended 4+ years ago and is a horror to use
see why here

http://pcdied.com/XP-sux-sg.html

IE8 is not support now on many web sites.
and more each day can can NOT be updated
sure run Firefix v56+ that does run and all web sites like it.

    one other way is here.
here are all 26 verions stored at MS.
    or all synaptics (and xP)
getting the key board working will take more work.

    http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/...

the MS search has been upgraded.
    nice

Your best bet is to get that keyboard replaced. for some reason the overlay underneath that key isn't responding properly whether its because its worn out or maybe somebody spilled water on the keyboard by accident. Intermittent keyboard problems only get worse over time.

Open the Notebook from the back side and locate the RAM. Now remove the RAM and place it again and check, you can even try inserting the RAM in different slot if any used slot is available.

Check out.

Hi, I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 & the scroll area on my mouse pad isn't working. Can this area be turned off and if so, is there a way to turn it back on/unlock it?

The scroll pad on the touch pad needs a particular driver Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. This will actually run at the startup after installed which will activate the functionality of scroll on the touch pad. You can also actually turn this function on and off so this is a friendly user.
If you do not have that driver that comes with your laptop you can go here:

The touchpad on my Compaq presario cq60 is not working. Which function key unlocks the pad?

Hi

Some say that if you press the blue FN key bottom left at the same time as the F7 key just above the no 8 key that may unlock the touchpad

or try the FN+F8 key

failing that use a usb mouse and go to device manager
start
search
device manager
scroll down to touch pad
un install it and restart immediately
hopefully windows will reload it and will be ok

good luck
please let us know if you get it working ok

HI there,
You need to try with these 2 solutions, if solution 1 not works,
1. There is a key on your keyboard Fn and you will see ScrLk written in blue color Simply press Fn+Scrlk button, and it should enable scroll lock
2. Uninstall your touchpad drivers from the control panel, Go to control panel, Programs> Uninstall a program and select Synaptics Touchpad
Go to the link below to download the Drivers of touchpad
Download and install the drivers by simply following on-screen instruction,

Scroll sections on mousepad not working

almost certainly this means that the drivers for the touchpad have reverted to the windows generic drivers. Try the driver from Compaq here. Sadly, without knowing the OS and exact model number of the laptop I can't be more specific on the link than that. The exact model of the laptop is usually printed on a sticker on the bottom.

Compaq F767NR Notebook

Yeah I dont think they are allowed to make xp drivers even if they wanted to. Try getting all the information about your computer as you can, video card, audio card, nic, ect. Then download separate drivers for everything. If things dont work out just go back to vista or linux, (fedora, ubuntu, kubuntu, red hat, ect.) linux is better anyways and its just fun to use.
