I have a wireless lexmark x6570 (barely used) and now it has a paper jam error and there is no paper jam but i have been unable to clear it. please help before i make it a door stop

same issue. paper jam but no paper anywhere. in fact if i force a piece of paper partly in it will spin it through the rollers and spit it out. ???

  • des4859 Oct 15, 2008

It happened to me after accidentally sucking in a stack of papers. It's had the paper jam error ever since.

  • bpkalmakis Nov 10, 2008

Same thing. there must be a way to clear it.

I receive an "alleged" Carrier Jam error EVERY TIME I attempt to COPY a "color" copy.

PRINTING a color copy works fine.

PRINTING or COPYING a black copy works fine.

Can anyone spot the logic here?

And it is NEVER jammed. The Checkmark button immediately shoots out a blank paper. Never even started printing.

    Any takers?

x6570 paper jam message will not clear and there is no paper jam

  • Anonymous Apr 30, 2009

It pulls a paper down two or so inches, begins printing on nothing, and then says "clear paper jam then press check mark." But the paper isn't even in. Even without any paper in, it does the same thing.

There is an end of form sensor in the paper path that is likely stuck or the rollers cannot turn due to some other Jam. The machine will throw that message if those two mechanisms cannot function. Look for debris in the printer - give it a good shake.

Took Woodchux's ideas and went a step further. As a big fan of Office Space, the movie, I decided to go beyond a shake and gave it a few solid hits on the back and the sides and the top. And yes, now it is working again!!!! "I believe you have my stapler" - Milton

Paper Jam

Hi Matt,
Here's how to:-
  • First turn the printer off and on.This is known to automatically clear paper jams by pushing the stuck paper out.
  • Remove all the papers from the feed trays.
  • Remove the cover from the housing of the printer to gain access into the inside of the printer.
  • Check for the jammed paper inside and gently pull it out.
  • Press on the flashing paper jam button to make the clearing easy.
  • If this doesn't clear the jam, unplug the printer from power and try removing the stuck papers firmly.
  • Plug the printer back and try printing now.
Check out these video tutorials for more on the same.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

Printer says clear paper jam then press the check button

There is a line of sensors along the paper path, if any of these are obscured by even the smallest scrap of paper you will get the messasge, re check the paper path again it only needs a scrap of paper, if you can spot any of the sensors give them a blow with some compressed air (paper dust build up), last but worth a try unplug for 2 minutes to allow residual power to drain and then try power up and see if the message has cleared

X6570 paper jam message won't clear even after paper removed

I had the same problem. What i figured out wich said nothing about it in the book was to.
- turn off printer
- Dbl make sure there is no jammed paper
- put at least one sheet in the feeder like normal
-then turn printer back on ,when printer is going through its start up steps it will pull the paper through that you loaded in the printer and should clear the paper jam message.
It took me a day and a half to figure that one out, so some how post a reply if it works for you so i can pat myself on the back.
Thank you -PURNRG

My Lexmark X6570 shows paper jam I have performed all the normal orfices for paper and it is clear and the check mark will not clear

I called the Manufacturer and they had me make 5 or 6 different tests and concluded it was a hardware problem. They are replacing the unit.
Thank you for the attempt, but I do not believe you should charge if you can't fix it or have the answer.

Lexmark X6570 printer - Cleared paper jam. No paper scraps visible anywhere in printer. Continue to get error message to clear paper jam and then press the "check" button. Does not reset. ...

Ok, the paper jam could be due to one of the following:
  • Check for paper in the paper tray
  • Check the size of the paper in the paper tray to see if it is the same as what the printer is set for.
  • Defective D-roller
  • Debris in the paper path
  • Gears not turning or broken gear
  • Defective paper tray
  • Broken input sensor flag
  • Defective input sensor board
  • Defective system cable 2
  • Defective system board
  • Exit Sensor flag (Fuser)
  • Exit Sensor board (Fuser)
  • System cable 1
First try a hard reset - unplug printer from power source, wait a minute and replug. If it still does not work, uninstall the driver, reboot PC and reinstall (or download latest version from lexmark.com.

If there is no bit of paper or debris stuck in the rollers, it would indicate something more serious, and in need of servicing. If your machine is under warranty, I suggest you take it back to the shop and get it replaced.

If your warranty has run out, then you'll either have to get it serviced or buy a new printer (whichever works out cheaper for you)

Hope that helps!
