Hi,

If all else fails, might you want to try and verify how your printer is connected to your computer. The error message says "LPT1" and if you are using USB, then of course there is no printer connected to LPT1. What is required is to verify your printer properties, port settings and make sure that the USB is checked.

If on the other hand, your printer is connected using parallel cable (not USB) to the LPT1/parallel/printer connector of the PC, and assuming the drivers were installed right, then perhaps what it needed is to try the settings of the LPT1/Parallel in the CMOS/BIOS. There are a couple of choices among them EPP, ECP, Normal. Pls cycle on each and determine which one will work.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Go to Printers and Faxes > Right-click the default printer icon (DeskJet 820Cse) > Properties. Go to Ports tab and select USB Virtual Port (check the box) then click Apply. Go to General tab and click on Print Test Page. That should do it. You'll just need to use the USB port not the LPT1 port.

I connected to my HP DeskJet 820Cse via my home network. It showed the printer is connected and selected but won't print. I am using Windows 7 64-bit. What's wrong?

The 820 is a really old piece of kit and i am very surprised that windows 7 has found a driver for it. I I suspect that it has used a generic driver as hp never produced a W7 driver let alone a 64 bit one. I dont think you will ever get it to work.

Srri but have been working on printers for over 20 years so take my advice and dont try and cure the incureable!!

Printer does not pick up paper to print.

The rollers may be dirty and slipping. I just fixed this problem on my old HP 820Cse by cleaning the three rollers with rubbing alcohol (99% isopropyl alcohol) as follows:
1) Remove the paper tray. The release lever is under the tray.
2) Saturate a small 4-layer pad of paper towel with the alcohol.
3) Try to print something. The rollers will turn. While they turn, hold the alcohol-soaked pad firmly against one roller.
4) Repeat 5-10 times for each roller until no more black stuff comes off. (Push the button next to the printer's amber light to repeat the print cycle.)
5) Slide the tray back in. You're good to go!

New Dell Inspiron connected to HP 820Cse printer. Won't print.

I've not worked with one of these cables before, but here's what I would do: Right-click on the printer icon and go to properties. You'll be looking for the tab that says "ports." Open that tab and see what port the computer thinks it's using for the printer. Chances it says it's using a parallel port, but it is in fact, using a USB port. I can't tell you which to choose without looking at what you see, but I think you might find one that makes reference to a USB port with a parallel connection of some type. Try clicking on that and see if your situation improves.

Print alignment

hi, the printer has rubber rollers which pulls the paper in during printing, it seems like one side of the intake pully does not have enough presure or the rubber has hardned or worn out, hence it is slipping off, check that area , let me know.
