Here is a simple way to access Windows XP with Administrator rights and privileges if you have password protected your User account on your Windows XP system and can't remember the password(s) to login. Whenever Windows XP is installed on a system, it creates a default account called "Administrator" and by default this account is not password protected. Therefore, if you bought a brand name computer (such as Dell, HP, Compaq or Sony)or you have installed Windows XP yourself. You should be able to login to the computer through theunprotected Administrator account.

You can log on as an administrator to assign a new password to your account. To do this, try Method 1.

Method 1: Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch on until you get the Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Click through several self-explanatory screens until your reach the familiar 'Welcome' screen.

Note that this welcome screen is limited to 256 colors and 640x480 resolution because the primary graphics will have been set to the Windows Safe Mode software VGA adapter. You will not be able to change this mode even in Display options, while Windows is running in Safe Mode.

Find the icon for the Administrator user. If the default settings of your system haven't been changed, there should be no password for this account.
Continue on to the User Settings control panel. Here you can change any of the other passwords for user on the machine. Make any changes you want.
Reboot your computer. As long as you don't press any keys (e.g. F8) during the boot-up the computer will startup normally.

If Method 1 is unsuccessful try Method 2.

Method 2: Reset Windows Password with SmartKey Windows Password Recovery.

Download SmartKey Windows Password Recovery from SmartKey Password Recovery Official site

Decompress the SmartKey Windows Password Recovery and note that there is an.ISO image file. Burn the image file onto a blank CD with the burner.

Insert the newly created CD into the locked computer and re-boot it from the CD drive.

Boot the PC with the CD Rom and Run the SmartKey, a window pop up with all your account names(if you have several accounts) select one of the accounts that you have forgotten its password to reset it. Just one press, you have removed the password.

Forgotten password in XP

If you've forgotten your password and are using Windows XP (home version), you may be able to change the password with the following procedure. Note: this procedure will not work if someone has secured the administrator account.
The administrator account is set to nothing by default in Windows XP (home version only). In order to access the administrator account, you have to boot up into Safe Mode.

On powering up your computer, press F8 repeatedly to get the boot menu. Select Safe Mode and boot into safe mode. Once there, you will be in the Administrator account where you can go into control panel and select User Accounts. You can reset the password of the user account that you've forgotten for here.

Be sure to give your administrator account a secure password so that someone else cannot do the same to your computer without your authorization. Once you do this, the above procedure will not work.

Now there are several programs available on the internet for a modest fee that will allow you to reset your forgotten password without having to go through the above procedures. Just do a search for "windows password reset" (without the quotes) and you'll be presented with many different programs. These all usually require you to create a bootable CD or USB drive (they instruct you how to do it) and you boot the problem computer with this newly created CD or USB drive and the software takes over from there.

I am paul baah-ampofo. i have forgotten my pw

If you are talking about your windows password, what you can try is at the login screen depress "control-alt-delete" twice. This will allow you to log on as the master computer Administrator ( The account set up during windows installation) I have found that few people give this account a password when installing windows and you can log in as "Administrator" and leave the password blank. If this doesn't work then get back with me because there is other routes you can take.
The Master Administrator log on screen can also be reached by pressing F8 when you are restarting your computer (after any BIOS information has been displayed). The windows advanced options screen will be displayed. Select the safe mode item on the menu and press enter. Windows boots to a lower-resolution version of the welcome screen that includes an Administrator entry.
If you have forgotten your BIOS password then all you have to do is take out the battery for at least 15 secs. I recommend a full minute. Our if you motherboard has the reset jumper where you can locate it without too much difficulty then jumper the two pins and that will reset your password.
Good luck and if you are talking about some other password then please let me know which password you have forgotten. And, good luck. Hope this helped you somewhat.

Forgotten password

Go to Safe mode using the F8 key.

( Shut down the computer --> Now turn on the system and keep tapping the F8 key on the system.--> you will receive the windows Advance option--> choose the Safe mode option and hit enter--> choose the your operating system and hit enter..)

In safe mode if the computer prompts to enter the Administrator account --> Do not put any thing and hit enter --> that means use Blank Password and hit enter. If it works perfect follow the further steps. If it does not choose another account if exist.

In safe mode :-

steps 1:-

click on start--> run-->control userspasswords2 hit enter. Now the window which opens up--> uncheck the option which says :- Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer.
after unchecking it hit apply button at the botton and hit ok.

Now when you restart the computer will not ask you the Password and will take you directly to the Account.

once you are in you can remove the Password through the user accounts in control panel.

Try this and let me know if it works...!

FORGOTTEN USERNAME

If you can remember the administrator account password, then you can login with it in safe mode (F8 at system startup). Then, go to "My Computer, Documents and Settings" and look at the profiles. One of those profiles will be your username.
