Question about Electrical Supplies
Hi, I'm new to FixYa so hopefully you can help me. I posted a premium question last night about my Coleman Powermate 5000 and received an e-mail that you had posted a solution. However when I looked at the question in my profile, there is only an answer from swami nathan.
Am I missing something?
Engine is loaping. I have changed the gas stc. Still loaping. As engine loaps, the lights dim and small ac window unit will not run property.

You need a quart of regular old SAE 5W30 motor oil with detergent.
The engines on these generators are more or less the same as a lawn mower.
Don't forget to service/change the air cleaner when you change the oil, that should keep your generator producing full power.

Take a look at your outlets. Some of these units use pretty cheap outlets and short out. You will know if it is bad when you look at it. Hope this helps.

It's almost certainly gummed up gas in the carburetor. Get some carb cleaner, and some spray instant start. Drain the gas from the tank and put a small amount of 50/50 carb cleaner and gas in the tank. Remove the air cleaner, open the choke, spray a little instant start into the carb and start it. It may fire just a couple of time. Keep the choke on to try to pull a bit of gas through the carb. You may have to do this a few times. Once you can tell some gas is flowing, open the choke slowly to keep it running until you use up the 50/50 mix. Then try a small amount of straight gas in the tank to be sure it works right, before you refill the tank. Make sure you use a stabilizing additive in any gas that you store for more than a month. good luck, Al K
