SA-AX720 no subwoofer signal?

Hi

I picked up a SA AX720 to hook up with the TV in my office at home but I can't get the subwoofer working.

I have a 42 flat screen an HDMI DVD player with a Captive Works Satellite plus a cable signal.

I also bought a set of Sony SA FT3H speakers for a very good price used, still in the box and thought I was doing pretty good. This six speaker system has a powered subwoofer.

When the Technics didn't seem to work, I pulled my Pioneer VSX-D711 from the basement system and hooked it up just fine and the subwoofer works great.

I put it all back together configuring the Technics the same way, even dug up the manual online.

I get sound from five speakers but no subwoofer....there's a line out for the Subwoofer but the Sony doesn't respond.

Sounds to me like the subwoofer section is fried in the amp....anyone else had this problem before?

regards

Ian

The RCA output for the subwoofer is for a powered subwoofer (a subwoofer that has its own built-in amplification). I have used a Klipch powered subwoofer for a number of years with very good results.

THIS UNIT HAS NO SUB WOOFER AMP IN IT. THE ONLY WAY TO OVER COME THIS IS TO HOOK THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SPEAKERS STRAIGHT TO THE SUB WOOFER AND THEN GO FROM THE SUB WOOFER BACK TO THE INPUTS ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT FOR THE FRONT SPEAKERS. THE SUB WOOFER THIS WAY WILL EXTRACT THE BASS AND THE FRONT WILL RECEIVE THEIR PART. THIS SOUNDS CRAZY AS HELL I KNOW BUT THAT'S HOW I GOT MINE TO WORK. THE OUTPUT FOR THE SUBWOOFER IS USELESS AND PUT THERE FOR YOU TO HOOK UP AN AMP FOR A SUB WOOFER. EVERYTHING HAS SHORT COMINGS, AND THAT'S THE ONE FOR THE AX-720.

Trying to hook up SH-AC500D to SA-AX720 Receiver. I wanna know the right wires to use. Thank you

Connect the 6-channel analog outputs of the AC500 to the 6-channel analog inputs on the AX720 using 3 RCA cable pairs.

http://archiwumallegro.pl/technics_shac500d_procesor_surround_ddigital_dts-1215399983.html

Digital sources will enter the AC500 and be converted to 5.1 analog output.

Be advised, that input on the receiver will not allow any internal DSP manipulation. WYSIWYG.

Running 8 ohm speakers (4) and getting a readout from the receiver that says "overload"?? Please help??

The Ohm rating is a less accurate and rather misleading reference for gauging how compatible it will be for the performance nature of a given amplifier; it is best to pay closer attention to the sensitivity rating.
That being said, the amount of load on an amplifier will increase as the signal frequency is decreased. So disabling any bass boost, loudness controls or adjusting on an equalizer the lower frequencies to a lesser amount will help remedy this.

My Technics SA-GX100 Reciever worked for a minute, but when i set it up with all the speakers and attachments, it says "muting". i dont have a remote, so how do i UNMUTE it?

According to my Technics SA-R210 manual to UNMUTE without the remote....do the following......PRESS BOTH THE VOL UP & DOWN CONTROLS & THE LOUDNESS SWITCH ON THE UNIT AT THE SAME TIME......Not sure it will work for your model but that is what it shows for The Technics SA-R210 model, so it should be pretty much the same

Max. wattage for speakers w/ Technics Receiver SA-GX100?

I too have a Technics SA-GX100 and it's rated at 2 x 40W @ 8 Ohms. I have the Technics SB-2840 floor model speakers hooked to it, which are rated at 200W Music Input - 8 ohms. It sounds very nice just to be a 40W receiver.

Technics SA-AX720

Look for lossing solders points or bad conections. Start to look on those components of hi wattage and components to get hot alot, those are the most common to have weak solders spots.
Also some equipment need to be clean because the dust can make problems.
good luk.
