While watching tv the screen will go black i have sound but no picture . you can turn off tv ( sometimes it takes a minute by keep pushing the on off button ) when it finally turns off if you wait a few minutes and then turn back on i will have a picture for a little while . then the same thing keeps happening . it is getting more frequent . can you help me ?
It can be just an adjustment of your screen control. There is a "sweet spot" on the control where it allows the picture to come through. This is a common problem with sets that are getting old. If there is a problem with the high voltage from the color tubes then it will shut down the video until the problem is gone and it is safe again to show the picture. This is known as going into a shutdown procedure to protect the set. A technician will be needed to fix your problem since it will require proper troubleshooting and knowledge of high voltage system and safety procedures.
