It sounds to me that you have starter problems or connection chaffing.
There ia a component called a starter that connects to the video portion of the MB. the starter then connects to the backlight to fire the backlight up and you could be having one that is dying fast. Seek a professional to replace or get the specific one from a distributer and install yourself if you have the ability. The wires that go from the video to the starter travel through the hinge section and over time these can wear and cause inteference to the screen. Might want to check this out also. Make sure you are experienced before attempting to open up a laptop. The final cause (worst case) could be the video itself, in which case your sunk and need a new MB.
