Question about GE Nautilus 24" Built-in Dishwasher
Our seven year old GE Nautilus seems to be leaking from the front. We took off the panels on the bottom to see where the leak was coming from and it looks like the bottom of the door. The insulation inside the door seems wet when you touch it at the bottom. The racks inside the diswasher are also getting worn and need to be replaced. Do you think it would be more economical to just get a new dishwasher or see if this one can be fixed?
Hello Kathy J...
It sounds as if you want reassurance that you should replace your dishwasher.. The costs associated with replacing the racks themselves and the gasket on the door ( depending on who does it) might justify the purchase of a replacement model.. Plus newer models are more energy efficient that the older ones.. 7 years of use is a fairly long time so you've gotten your money out of it... I always use this litmus test to validate the purchase.. if the cost to repair is close to or exceeds the cost to replace, then replacement makes sense.. Very subjective indeed.. hope you make the right choice.. :-)
