Compare the Nikon d80 to the new d90. Can I use all my manual focus lenses from my Nikon film cameras? Also, all my filters and flashes.

All old lenses will work on the D90 the same way they work on the D80. Filters depend on the lens -- they either fit or they don't -- the camera has nothing to do with that. I wouldn't use old flashes on new DSLRs.

There really is no difference between the D80 and the D90 as far as lenses and flashes are concerned.

I would like to use my Sigma 600 Mirror lense on Nikon M80 digital camara body lense was used on a Pentax Super A camara before can it fit

Sorry, no. If it fit onto a Pentax camera then the lens has a Pentax mount. The Nikon (I assume you mean the D80 digital camera, or perhaps the N80 film camera) has a Nikon mount. Since the Nikon mount has a deeper flange distance than the Pentax mount, there are no adapters available to allow you to fit a Pentax-mount lens onto a Nikon camera.

The filters go on the back of the lens (the end that connects to the camera). If you detach the lens and look inside, you'll see a threaded ring. Simply screw the filter on, similar to how you put filters on the front end of other lenses.

Due to the great magnification ratio of this lens, you absolutely need to have it on a tripod or other stable support. Even the slightest camera shake will be magnified.

The lens also has very little depth of field, so you must focus precisely. Since you're mounted on a tripod, you might want to activate the LiveView feature and zoom in the subject while you focus.

My Nikon D80 w18-135 lens started flashing err last night. I was in -4 degree weather

Nikon D80 and D90 have that problem especialy with 18 105 kit lenses. You just need to lean the contact between camera body and len. Thry rubing with pencil eraser, but be careful not tu drop any inside of body. Do it upside down.

Do all nikon lenses mount the same or are the digital cameras difrent? I own a nikon 6006 camera and want to know if i can use my lenses with the D90 or do I need to get diffrent lenses?

Yes and no. Physically they will all fit (with very rare exceptions, such as the 6mm f/2.8 fisheye).

Most Nikon dSLRs have a sensor that is smaller than a frame of 35mm film. What this means is that you end up using only the central area of each lens. In effect this means that each of your lenses is effectively 1.5 times longer. A 200mm lens on a digital camera will give you the same angle of view a 300mm lens on a film camera gives you. The D3 family and the D700 are the exceptions, behaving similar to a film camera in this respect.

Older Nikon lenses do not have the electronic circuitry necessary to communicate with newer cameras. In the case of the D90, this means that such lenses will not communicate with the camera's exposure meter. They can still be used in Manual mode, but without assistance from the meter. You'll need to move up to a D300 if you want to meter with such lenses.

Bear in mind that lens technology continues to improve every year. Given an old lens and a new lens of similar focal length (or zoom range), the new lens will almost invariably outperform the old one.

For the best under $1000, that would be the D90.

The 18-105VR will work on the D70s.

D80 SLR lens /flash prob lem

What are your other lenses? If they're not AF lenses, you're not going to get autofocus or metering.

Is your flash not working when popped up? Remember that the flash won't pop up automatically in Manual mode.

My D80 will not auto focus with any of my 3 Nikkor lenses. It will fire on auto focus when you manually focus while in that auto focus mode.

Press the AF button on the top of the camera (to the right of the window) to select an AF mode & make sure the M/A (Manual / Auto focus) switch on the lens set to "A"

Lense will not work with SLR Nikon D90

This lens is too old for the D90, it has not got the electronics for metering and autofocus.
You can use it manually in M mode but you will have to set the aperture and shutter yourself.
The D90 manual has a section on compatible lenses, page 228 in my version.
This recommends CPU lenses for the D90, type G and D.
