Question about RCA DRC8335

Power supply burnt

Q101 and R106 were burnt up. I found the Q101 mosfet, but can't determine the value of R106. The colors are burnt off and the value keeps changing as I clean it more. I also need the values of R103A and R108A. Any chance of getting a cheap schematic? Thanks for any info.

LesFix. Regarding resistor R106 rating, note the color code (green-black-gold-silver) specifies a 5 ohm resistor 10% tolerence, not 1/2 ohm.

R106 is a .5 ohm. It is green, black, gold, and silver. I believe it is a 1/2 watt resister
R103A is a 27 ohm and R108A is a 470 ohm resister.I have no schematic.

Player will not eject, play or stop, standby light will not come on

hi,
If there is no standby light then you have to check the power supply of your blue ray player. Its will be an smps power supply. Very carefull while dealing with such power supply beacuse there will be Live areas in the board. You have to check the fuse in the smps. If the fuse is faulty The its sure that the smps driver MOSFET is short. Before replacing the fuse you have to check the MOSFET. If not it will lead to further dameges to your system.
If the fuse is ok and the power supply is perfect then the mother board of your player is faulty. If so then you have to contact the nearest Authorise servicing center to get it repaired.
ok

I lost the power in my house and when the power came back on, the power on the Go video will not come back on. I can not find a reset button.

Sounds like the a general failure of the switchmode power supply in this unit. Easiest and quickest way to determine this is to visually inspect the supply board for obvious signs of trouble - check for any blown fuses, swollen/leaky capacitors or burnt components. It is probably something really simple like bad electrolytic caps. These are inexpensive to replace, but you should have ALL of them replaced at the same time, to minimise the risk of further failures later on. (note their working voltages and various values, and observe their polarity in relation to the board markings when replacing them) Electrolytic capacitors have a nasty habit of failing under unusual conditions by themselves, and the destruction they cause when they leak, could be extreme.

You may be lucky with the other components in the PSU, and these may be OK, but check the fuse and the caps first. See how you go. If this does not restore power to your unit, consider a workshop repair quote, but only as a last resort when all else fails, and you cannot go further yourself.

Stopped working.....does not turn on.

hi,
your dvds samps switch mode power supply has some complaint. remove the power and oppen its cover and check the fuse inside.if it found blued, maybe the smps driver mosfet or the MOV aftre fuse may be damaged. MOV is a component which blues the fuse if there is an over voltage surge over the specified limit. if found faulty replace it.
ok

Hi, Sounds very much like the capacitors in the power supply have failed and stressed the switching regulator/mosfet/transistor and caused it to go short.Unless you are conversant with switching power supplies, be prepared to spend some money.

I have no power getting into my dvd recorder. would it be the power supply to the unit is burnt out.

If you not getting any indicator at all, then the power supply is dead, if you get some indicator light and that all it does, then the 5v standby voltage circuit is OK but not the main power section. Look for bad filter capacitors that will have bulging tops.

Resister burnt

Guest and Lesfix. RU83 located on the DRC8335 VCR PCB is a 51ohm 1/4 watt 5% tolerence resistor, color coded green-brown-black-gold. As to zener diode DU83, I haven't been able to determine it's value yet but am working on the problem.

Be aware when either or both these components fry, this indicates you need to replace the following two overheating capacitors on the power-supply board, which were directly resonsibile for knocking them out:

• C216 1000µf 16 volt (upgrade to 35 volts)
• C218 1000µf 10 volt (upgrade to 35 volts)

Could you email me regarding this problem when you have time. Mention Fixya and DU83 in the subject line so I realize it's from you. Thanks. mikeadams110@yahoo.com

I had this code (f09) on my Panasonic DVD VHS recorder. After seeing that it meant overload I took the cover off to look for burnt out components. I found that an electrolytic capacitor had bulged (look up capacitor plague on wikipedia). I replaced the capacitor with one of a similar value from an old power supply and it worked fine.
