I have a cheap VRCD400-SDU receiver I bought on ebay. Im trying to install it in an 87 samurai. I have no harness whatsoever. Not a factory one in the dash, nor the 16-pin receiver harness that attaches to...

You are correct that finding a universal harness is much like a unicorn hunt. I have been there before.

Your best bet is to bypass the harness, but use the same style female wire terminals that the wire harness holds together. I have included a link to www.mouser.com of the specific page of their catalog of these style connectors. You are looking at figure G.

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/catalogUSD/643/1514.pdf

What you will need to do, is use 18-20ga wire, solder the wire to these terminals & heat shrink them. You will then be able to individually connect each wire terminal & wire to each male pin on the headunit. It will be important to strain relief so they stay connected. Make sure you are not shorting any pins together, as this can cause damage.

In all honesty, i would look for a new headunit if this is a cheapo. The time & money spent for this solution can easily go awry when installed in a car. Installing the headunit back into the dash could knock them out, a bumpy road, etc.... Your headache may be much smaller with a different unit. But then again, like yourself, its what you do for fun.

I have a 1999 Cadillac DeVille Concours with an AM/FM/Cassette/CD/RDS Radio. The AM works fine, the FM does not, screen shows digital info(stations like 99.3, etc) but no sound. RDS does not function at...

Hi there,

Well there's lots of possible reasons. The FM receiver portion of the radio is separate from the AM Band receiver, pre-amp, and amplifier sections of the radio. The FM receiver may have simply failed, as well as the CD player portion of the radio. Your car FM needs repair, you need a multimeter to check it or take it to a repair person. Please post further comments for further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Hello again. Sorry to say my knowledge is lil... I want to replace stock deck. Here is the stuff i want to put in it. Could you take a look and give an opinion if maybe i cant get away without putting a...

ok as for the deck just get the wiring harness for your car so you dont have to cut the old one out and that would eliminate the need for a wireing diagram with that done you should be able to hook all speakers you want to the stock spot so for a tweeter just hook it up with the door speaker there arnt any extra cords....you will only need a amp for a subwoofer unless you choose to put your mids and highs on one and if you didnt want to change your deck hook up the tweeters would be the same way hope this helped
