"Document Failed to Print" - printer is "receiving data" but nothing ever comes out
Since Saturday, I keep getting the error "Document Failed to Print" on my computer when I try to print. When I look at the printer, it is "Receiving Data" but nothing ever prints out. Rebooting the computer OR printer individually does no good, but if I reboot them both together, it fixes the problem temporarily and I can print for some time before it goes down again. I replaced the printer with another (same model) and it did NOT fix the problem. Any ideas? I'm running Windows XP, and I've double checked for viruses, spyware, etc. I'm not having any other errors with the computer.

Critical firmware error. Can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, invalid operations or even electrical noise in the cable.
Turn off the printer, then turn it on. Press Stop to clear the print job from memory. Turn off and back on. Print a document from a different software program. If that document prints, go back to the first program that failed and print a different file. If the error comes back, that file is corrupt. If the message persists with different programs and print jobs have the formatter replaced.
This is usually caused by data within the print job. Microsoft Office sends paper size and job data with each job. Clear all print jobs in the computer sending the job.(Start/Printers/double click the canon printer and delete all jobs in the print que. Clear the Canon by off/on. Open a program and print a standard letter size document to test. This can be corrected by going to the page/document setup choices under "File" or the Ball in MS Office. Usually this is set to A4 or Bypass by mistake within the application. Thanks
