Question about Intel D845GVSR Motherboard

1 Answer

CPU incompatibil Have eMachines that had a bad power supply and took out MB. Purchased an identical MB with the same rev main number on the Intel sticker and now system will not boot up but it indicates the supported CPU speed is only up to 2.8Ghz before is shuts down in 10 seconds. The original is an Intel Celeron D CPU is 2.93Ghz.Do I have to install a 2.8GHz CPU? Or is there some other way around this problem? It is an identical MB, but it looks like the bios and bios chip is different.

Do you get to the boot screen if so press the key to enter BIOS and set BIOS to default then from there set up to suit CPU and memory
Also check the M/board battery is OK

Hi, I have a used Sempron 3300+ cpu out of a eMachine with a bad M.B. I would like to know if this CPU is compatiable with a(Gigabyte), GA-M68MT-D3(rev.2.3) M.B.

Hi.

We are not going to be able to tell you if the CPU is compatible with the Gigabyte motherboard without knowing the make and model of the motherboard that the CPU originally came out of. If you could provide us with that information we will be able to tell you the socket type and whether or not the CPU is compatible with the Gigabyte motherboard.

No power on

Start barebones and work your way up.
Unhook everything except the Power Supply, MB, CPU/with fan, Monitor, Power SW, and Keyboard (eg...no mouse, no hardrive, no cd-dvd....). If no post or no power it might be a bad power supply, MB, CPU, etc.....process of elimination.

Possible "DOA"

I have an emachines t3958 w/ intel d845epi/d845gvsr, it will not turn on. i have replaced the power supply, and i believe everything is plugged in correctly. help!

Hi there,
Do any fans or lights come on?

Here's things I'd check:
-Replace Power supply (You already did this)
-Try a different AC outlet, remove any surge protector
-Remove the Power Button Cable from the MB and short those pins
with a screw driver just for a second.. (to eliminate a bad power button)
-Verify that the Power button is connected to the correct place.
-Verify the voltage selector on the Power supply is set to 115V (if that's what you have)
-Verify the Power supply's additional switch is set to on (if it has one on the back)
-Verify the CPU is seated correctly and securely.
-Verify there is no metal screws or anything like that sitting on the motherboard.
-Verify that the extra 4 Pin 12V connector is connected (if present on
this MB)
If none of this works, the motherboard might be dead.
Good luck!

Connecting my PSU to my Motherboard

The bare essentials to start a computer are PSU, Motherboard, CPU, RAM and Video.

Its possible the PSU arrived DOA. Though I've only had 2 DOA PSU's in the 15 years I've been building custom computers.

Hope this helps.

Emachine T2890 won't power up. After reading some posts on this issue I went ahead and replaced the power supply, but the unit still won't power up. I am fairly certain that the old ps was fried since...

If you remove all the RAM fro the system and power it on, you should hear "Memory Error Beeps" if not, then it is usually Motherboard or CPU, for around $30.00 you can purchase a PCI POST code reader to try to pin the problem down further.
I am assuming from the post that all PCI cards (dial up modem especially) have been removed. Sounds like a bad MB or CPU, but if the video is integrated,( built on the motherboard, and not a seperate card, the memory is responsible for video also, and it maybe defective.

Emachine T3828 power switch connection to motherboard

The "Ultra Helpful Instructions" that Emachines provide (here: http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf) state that when replacing the system board, "18. Attach all cables to new system board", but fails to say where that would be for each cable.

The site below says it's a genuine Intel board in there, so, congrats on that. http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socket478/D845GVSR.shtml

And with that, the link to the manual:
ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GVSR/SR_English.pdf

You're looking for the info on page 32, I believe.

See if that fixes it up. If not, post back.
