Question about Denon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I am buying a denon 4308 receiver I have a plasma tv, blu ray, dvd recorder and direct tv h d recorder being plugged into it. I guess there are 4 hdmi plug ins. But in the picture of the back it looks like 4 plus 2 more off to the right of the 4 plug ins. I am alos going to run my lap top through it and they said I have to plug it in in the back of the receiver. Question is.... those other 2 hdmi plugs I mentioned above, can they be used for any of the above add ons or do I have to spend another $2,500.00 for the next larger model with 6 hdmi Wow... that's $5,500.00 fir a receiver. Please advise Steven Carter

The good news is that there are cheaper ways to expand your hdmi ports ,,,, the better news is that your laptop will connect to the vga adapter

Trying to get the VCR/DVD recorder to record shows from direct tv using HDMI

You can not use HDMI to connect to a recorder due to blu-ray rules of no high quality recording being allowed. The only way to record off of Direct TV is to use audio and video cables (red, white and yellow. You also may need something like a videostabiizer etc. to do the job. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!!!!

My denon avr-888 receiver displays "multi-ch.in" instead of "dolby digital" or "dts" for blu-ray and hd-dvd. do i need to reset the micro-processor to get the receiver to read the proper audio stream? on...

See page 40 of this....http://www.usa.denon.com/AVR-888-OM-E_004.pdf

It indicates that apparently, encoding other than DD or DTS such as found on DVD, will be displayed as you are seeing it now and that is normal. I'm guessing it's a possibility that at the time of production of your receiver there may have not even been a name yet for the hi-def encoding you find on Blu-ray or HD-DVD...the manual does not mention even being able to display DTS-HD and such on it's panel. Also see page 32, section 4.

I want to output blu ray dvd output in zone 2. Denon AV 4308

correct. in order to enjoy your digital sources in any zone2 configuration, an additional connection has to be made to the analog input from and for each of these devices.
some receivers wont allow internal xm, sirius and ipods to work in zone2 because they are input to the digital board and thats what your stuck with.

Can't record from tv to dvd

I think you would have to run your sat line through the DVR-1600 first (Line In) then connect directly from the DVR to one of your TV Line-Ins (Audio R, Audio-L, S-Cable Video).
And then use the Cyberhome TV Tuner to record off your sat.

How to connect BLU-RAY DVD player to Pioneer Plasma TV via HDMI

The best possible solution to your problem is :
Connect your blu ray player directly to the HDMI input of you Plasma and watch HD video....
and connect the 5.1/7.1 sound thru the optical or the coaxial link directly to your AVR 3805.
You will not loose anything on the Blu-Ray.
The sound is best processsed by the AVR3805, while the video, which is the real upgrade (BluRay) in terms of resolution of picture would be processed by your plasma.

Connect and Enjoy

Lost picture on my AVR-2807

There is a video select button on the receiver. Press it and it toggles through all of the video sources. Keep pressing it until the display says video=source.

Denon 4308

ok sounds simple you ran the lines threw the tv instead all lines should be ran threw the sterio

see once you turn tv off this cuts the outputs out so now no sound will happen
your sterio should be equipted to take inputs of tv
you want everything to be inputed threw receiver thats why they call it a receiver the outputs on tv goto inputs on receiver
you need to redo your wireing so that this which i described is correct again
