Printer stopped working

Would make a loud screeching noise after printing and then I would open the top and push enter to reset. worked for a while, now it will not reset at all. Noticed a black belt type thing hanging over paper tray at this point. Is this repairable?? Please help.

Sure it can be fixed; anything can be repaired, if you’re willing to spend the money. These Ink Jet Printers are designed to be thrown away. You can replace it cheap then you can have it repaired. The average life expectancy of modern electronics is 4 years or less.

One of these sites might even have the parts you might need?

Canon pixma mx700 error code 5010

5010 is a scanner error from the scanner on top. Canon has no parts for these and you can only replace the entire top of your machine. If you can get it apart, you might clean and lube, but it's not made to be opened.

Screeching noise from the carriage return after printing

Hi mothermoon,
This could be coming from dirty rollers. Raise the top of the unit and take some Q-tips dipped in isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and start cleaning all the rubber rollers and especially all the steel rolling pins that are in front of those rubber rollers. Spin the rollers around, by hand, to make sure you clean all around them, not just one spot. You'll be surprised how much residue you'll get off these parts. Even if this doesn't help your particular problem it should be done as standard maintenance.
