Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
I have a pair of drawstring pants - when I washed them last night, the belt got wrapped around the bottom of the agitator (under the wide par) - and I can not seem to disentangle it.
Is it possible to lift the agitator out so I can see how the belt is actually caught?
I have an old Kenmore washing machine that was in the house when I bought it 3 1/2 years go.
some fabrics are known to do that you have on wrong cycle setting there should be a setting for delicates and clothing and blankets and things when loaded to close to agitator will attract each other together so its wise when loading machine load in a circle leveled out till desired fullness away from agitator they shouldnt attract as much

You should be able to unscrew the top cap of the agitator ( may be left hand thread ) and lift off the agitator once the cap is off... They sometimes stick so you may have to muscle it to remove that cap..once lifted off..you should be able to untangle the string that is caught..

Im not very familiar with that type of top loadign washer,,, but on most agitators there is a bolt that runs down the center of the agitator, connecting it to the transmission/gearbox. Usually there is a cap, or softner dispenser that can be pulled off, revealing this bolt.

If this a whirlpool brand washer, there are sone parts bad in the agitator it's self. These parts are called dogs and they make the agitator rachet so that the top half only goes one direction. Does this sound like what you are experiencing? If so, let me know and I can assist you further.
