DS6607 incorrectly parsing PDF417 barcode

I have a DS6607 scanner that my employer purchased in bulk before checking to see that they actually work with our applications. We also have two older 2d Symbol scanners that I cant find model numbers for. The two older scanners scan our PDF417 barcodes correctly. Here is what they return:
@

ANSI 345678030001DL00310155DLDAIAnytown
DAJPA
DAQ365
DBA09172010
DBB04171963
DBC1
DBD09172008
DCF001
DCGUSA
DCSAdelsberg
DCTGregory POPULATED
ZCECFI
ZCL
ZCTLicensed Practical Nurse

----------------

The symbol DS6607 returns only the following:

4104171963 Adelsberg GregoryPOPULATED

---------------

It seems like it is trying to intelligently parse the data instead of just returning what is encoded. The field names (DCT, ZCE, etc.) are filtered out, and obviously not all fields are returned.

Any ideas?

Note, further testing shows that the same behavior is seen when scanning my PA drivers license.

    The DS6607 returns:
A "41" is returned (which isn't even the FIPS code for PA, by the way), followed by LastName FirstNameMiddleName and then a dozen or so spaces. All other fields are filtered out.

While the other scanner returns all fields.

For anyone interested, I worked with the vendor to find a solution. After some back and forth, they replied:

"I have looked up the part number of your scanner [DS6607-SR20130] and discovered that it defaults to different defaults than the standard SR20001 scanner. Specifically, it pads the data transmission with spaces and implements a custom ADF rule".

They sent codes for disabling these defaults. Moral of the story: contact your vendor.

This can occur when a scanner is set up incorrectly on the computer or register you have it plugged into. How to fix this varies wildly between systems.

> what should I do?

Stop using a computer and/or a computer-network supplied by your school or your employer, and then use your own computer and your own Internet access.

Otherwise, you risk get suspended from school/work, or getting fired, for violating the school/employer policies about Internet usage.

We have the barcodes to scan to emulate the keyboardwe are trying to scan units of blood that are for example 35 S 13048 the scanner reads 1313048..the first part is always messed up any ideas

Without knowing your application or scanner programming I can't be certain but it sounds like the scanner may be reading information on the code that you want parsed out. Check with whomever labels the units to find out exactly what is in the barcode (it's possible the "35 S " is not encoded) and then determine what you need to send to the program you are scanning the information in to. The scanner can be programed to pass along only specific characters that were scanned (i.e. the 13048) and to pre-pend or append additional characters as well (i.e. 35 S ). You'll need the scanner's programming manual to do that. Here's a link to the scanner's programming manual. Choose the first User's Guide on the list:

Try experimenting with the different inter-scan code delays. You can find the programming barcodes in your manual.
