There are a few pitfalls here, first have you accessed the D-link from safari?(try hhtp//192.168.0.1) did you set up a password? if so re do it and make it 13 letters long (the software autofills your password to make up 13, the default infill varies but only the correct one will work! just add anything to make up the total, even As) try this and get back to me

I lost the CD for this router. Is there a way to install the router?

All the CD does for you is provide a wizard-like interface. You can still set it up manually.

Connect your computer to one of the wired network ports on the router (not the WAN port - that's the uplink to your Internet feed). Use your web browser to go to the router admin page. The default address for D-Link products is usually http://192.168.0.1 and the default username/password is admin/admin. If you've ever changed the default password, use the one you selected instead. If you can't remember it, you can reset the router to defaults by holding the reset button for about 10 seconds while powering it on.

Once logged in, there are various settings you might like to tinker with but mostly the defaults should be okay. It's too much to list here. Check the D-Link site for details. There is a user manual here.

If your Internet feed and computer are plugged in and the router is powered up, your computer should get an internal IP address in the 192.168.0.xxx range from the router. Use IPCONFIG from the command line to check. You should now be able to browse the web.

Lights are on all the time

Hi, maybe try resetting it.

You will loose of the settings by doing this, so make a note of the settings by logging into the router. You can do this by typing 192.168.0.1 into your web browser address bar. The username is admin, the password is either password, 12345 or leave it blank. You can save your settings to your pc by logging in too.

Or you can use the cd from your internet provider to set it up once its reset.

To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.

Now its reset you can restore your settings, manually, with internet providers cd or by using a back up file.

Let me know how you get on.

How to fix my wired router

You can try first to reset the router to refrest its settings, To reset it press and hold the reset button for 25 seconds while the power is on, Then after that if you still have the setup CD just run it again to reconfigure the router. If you dont have the setup CD you can manually reconfigure the router to manually configure it I advice you to call Dlink tech support so they can walk you through with the process and reconfiguring the router for internet connection so your 2 computer can have internet via the router...

Hope that helps.............

It is always a good thing to start the different peripherals in an order. First, you start your modem. Wait 30 seconds. Then, start the router; wait another 30 seconds; then the computer.
