My daughter has spilled gatorade on her portable dvd player ....for the most part the spill only appeared to be on the outside but i'm sure that can't be totally 100%. i unplugged the cords and listened into the speakers...it sounds like this crackling sound. is there anything i can do to salvage this thing?
According to a computer professional I used to know, if the drink contained sugar it is often a waste of time attempting to fix...
The only thing I can suggest is to dismantle it, discover the sticky areas with a light dusting of talcum and shaking or blowing away the talcum that doesn't stick.
Sticky areas should be sluiced away with pure water and a clean soft paintbrush, localised drying gently with a low powered hair dryer and then place it all in the airing cupboard for a couple of weeks.
Yep get a bag big enough to hold the device & put it in dry uncooked rice, BUT please firstly cover any cable ports on the device with small clear tape to prevent any blockages to the earphone/cable ports, the rice will absorb the fluid from the device drying it out but you will have to leave it there for a few days to be sure it's fully dry, I have had this work on phones, tablets & laptops. Hope this helps ????

since you have plugged out the DVD for 3hrs the conclusion is that you will need to take it to a repairman the problem with your DVD is that it got a surge due to the power failure.that sound you are getting is from the little transformer in the power supply, the current stops at the primary windings and is not crossing over the the secondary winding to complete the cycle.good luck i was the one who told you to plug it out for 3hrs

That error usually indicates one of two things, your file system is corrupt and the master boot record or partition tables have corrupted.... or, in light of a liquid being spilled, some possibly got into the laptop.
I'm not sure right off the top of my head, but I think the hard drive has an access door on the bottom. Which you can remove a couple screws to remove the cover. I would visually inspect under that cover, and other covers if any while your at it, to check for any signs that liquid got in it.
