Question about Amana Dryers

1 Answer

My Amana Model NDG5800AWW dryer has ceased to dry clothes dependably. The Only setting that still sort of works is HIGH timed drying, and this heats up to what used to be the "delicate" setting. I have already had a tech out 2X who has INSISTED that the problem would be solved by replacing the vent tubing, which was filled with lint. Now it works worse. It does not turn itself off when the clothes are finally dry after sometimes 5 hours of tumbling. Help!

If you are using the auto dry setting and the dryer is still running after 5 hours you either have a timer issue or a thermostat problem.

The timer is driven by a motor, if the timer motor is bad the timer wont time out.

in the auto dry cycle the thermostat has to cycle off and on which then sends power to the timer again advancing the timer.

set the timer in a timed dry cycle for say ten minutes, if the timer advances and turns off then you know the timer works. if it doesnt advance you have a timer motor issue,

if the problem is the auto cycle, you could replace the thermostat, about $20 american. however a clock timer would be cheaper.

Based on how old is your machine and do you want to stick a timer in it after already paying the service man is up to you.

A basic bath towel load should be dry in about 50 minutes, this varies on how good your seals are and how long a vent you are running, if the dryer vent was plugged you already have shortened the life of your heating element.

Amana NED7200TW dryer. Has heat, tumbles, clothes don't dry. Vents have been gone through and cleaned. This happens in the sensor dry and time dry modes. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Just a question. Does your blower work. If your blower does not work it won't dry. Check blower belt. Mine broke and had no air blowing. Just a thought.

Electric dryer heats up ,but takes 3 or 4 times on very dry hot setting or timed setting to dry clothes?

Check vent for restrictions including pushing dryer too far back on vent.

Dryer is not heating up to dry clothes

The spark ignitor maybe at fault. Listen for the clicking noise upon starting it up the first 30 seconds it runs. If not heard it is in need of a replacement

It's not drying our clothes at all

Problem sounds like the heating element has gone out. Depending on the model, usually behind the drum. Needs to be taken apart and replaced.

My Amana dryer model number LE7153WM does not heating

The thermal fuse and the heating element would be the likely suspects. Both can be checked with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity, it indicates a defective component. Neither is repairable and if either component is bad, it will have to be replaced. Hope this helped. Good luck.
