Sounds like you have some hardcore malware. You might need to do a system reformat. When you turn on your laptop if you turn on your computer and all you see is this, the hardware could be damaged which would be an odd case. But I'll stick with my first thought. You need that cleaned up.

White color in LCD monitor appears as pink anywhere ! but sometimes it back to white color truely.

Hi,

This can be a common problem with laptop screen when white goes pink. This is caused by a faulty cable that runs from the laptop motherboard to the inverter just under the screen.

The cable becomes stretched after a while by movement of the laptop lid which pulls a pin from the cable.

What i suggest you do is take the laptop to PC repair store and have them fit a new video cable or order a replacement video cable from eBay and replace the cable yourself.

Don't be fooled by the preconception that its a bad CCFL bulb (backlight) as this is not the case.

To be honest, the Inspiron 1100 is probably not worth the effort and cost to upgrade
The fast is proc is a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 CPU, max ram 1GB of RAM,

Dark pink Dell Inspiron 6000 display

Your wallet will be yelling a bit. The display problems are typical of the back lighting system going out. These are the lights inside the display that light it up enough for you to see it. Without them the images are still there but too faint to see. There is nothing actually wrong with the lcd just these lights.

A typical back lighting repair kit will be about $100 for the parts and then there is the labour. You need to consider the cost of repairs verses purchase price of a laptop. There are some very capable new ones out there for about $400. Unless you can repair it yourself (not hard) or your techie will work cheap for you on this, you do need to consider replacement. Before you rush out to buy a new one make sure there is no warranty left from either the manufacturer or the store you bought from.

I know of lots of people who would just use it as a desktop system with an external monitor keyboard etc.

So you need to consider if you need it portable, if you want to spend the repair money or if a new one would be money better spent. Sometimes if it is a higher end laptop it is definitely worth fixing even if it is a few years old.

Laptop screens (2) drive me crazy!!!(and I like it...)

The old screen has a screen issue, then replacement appears to have a bad backlight. If possible, RMA the replacement, if bought as is, well, a learning experience. With Portable prices starting in the $400's I'd say it is time to cut your losses and put your money toward a new system.

Found Compaq Pressario in Trash Today - is it worth getting fixed

Start with buying a universal charger from an electronics store.

See if it will turn on. If not, it may not be worth keeping.

Sell it on ebay for parts if thats the case.

Sounds like a hardware problem. You should probably return it as soon as possible.

No display lights

There are two possibilities, neither is really for a novice.

TURN OFF LAPTOP, REMOVE AC PSU AND BATTERY

Open the laptop lid and check the thin ribbon cable (looks like dirty yellow or orange scotch tape with several small thin metal lines parallel to each other). This comes down from LCD/screen, to the lower laptop case. It will have a connector that has a clip/release compressing the ribbon in the jack. Release it, and GENTLY pull the end out. Old laptops get oxidation here that causes your symptoms. Use a stiff piece of CLEAN denim material ("jeans" to "buff" or "polish" the bare metal at the end of the cable. Then insert back into the jack and press the clip down evenly.

Reassemble laptop. If symptoms remain, then it is your fluorescent tube. Laptops have VERY thin fluorescent lights, about 2-3mm in diameter. You need to open the LCD/SCREEN case, and take NOTES how everything is taped inside as you disassemble. On the sides or top will be (usually) two, sometimes only one illumination tube sealed in a channel. If it has black or grey color at either or both ends, it is burned out. You will need to remove it and replace it. If the tube is NOT burned out, then it is either the connections (check all, in the area/connecting to tube). Last, if nothing was loose then your inverter is bad. If it is soldered to the main board, your laptop is "toast". It is over, unless you can find a GUARANTEED used or new replacement for a price you feel is good. However, if the inverter is inside the LCD/Screen/LID, this can often be a plug-in unit that is replaceable, if you can find the parts (again, for a price you feel is worth it).
